Or maybe, just maybe, the Jazz have been impressed with what they saw and the workout is going really well and the Jazz are quizzing him now.
DUN DUN DUN!!!
Perrin was asked if Vonleh was a top-5 pick. He said, "we'll see."Aaron Falk @tribjazz
Is Vonleh ready for 82 games in Salt Lake or Denver? Walt Perrin says no. But Jazz VP didn't think Vonleh was terribly out of shape today.
That's pretty much how I see it too. With Quin Snyder on board, I'm expecting them to go young with upside. Core5 will likely get most of the starter's minutes with other guys filling in as needed and possibly proving that they belong out on the floor.Perrin was asked if Vonleh was a top-5 pick. Really nothing to be gleaned from Perrin's interview. He was asked about how Vonleh would fit with Favors and Kanter and said Vonleh could play with either. Also mentioned he had watched him in HS and he was a perimeter player, but has now added a post game.
My conclusion from all of this is that both Vonleh and Gordon are very raw. Neither will threaten for a starting spot right away. Jazz likely go with the Core5 as the starters and see how they do (wouldn't it have been great to have had them starting together for 70 games last season?). Whoever the Jazz add will strengthen that group's rotation by coming off the bench. I have a gut feeling it will be Gordon.
Or both obviously.
Utah Jazz just tweeted that Vonleh seems to have a lot of knowledge about the jazz, organization, and history.
Vonleh participated in the 3 on 3 matchups did Gordon also do those or just an individual workout?
yeah i think he did.Vonleh participated in the 3 on 3 matchups did Gordon also do those or just an individual workout?
Vonleh's a smart guy, I'll give him that. When he worked out for Boston, he said what a thrill it was because he's from MA. Now he talks about the Jazz organization and history. Sounds like a guy going out on a job interview.
Is Noah Vonleh comparable to David West at all?
Is Noah Vonleh comparable to David West at all?
In fact, I'll go out on a limb here ---
Don't be shocked if Randle is the pick at 5. His quickness, toughness and motor may give him the nod over Vonleh. Randle is a bigger, quicker Paul Millsap, and Snyder just worked all year with Millsap. If Exum is off the board, I think there's a good chance that Randle is the pick.
Vonleh might be the only player I say hell no to.
We don't need another emotionless, heartless, fat *** big man who thinks he's a shooting guard. Drafting Chris Bosh 2.0 is not the answer. Give me a good role player over a Chris Bosh like "star."
Besides, if we want a stretch 4, why don't we just reup Marvelous?
Use the #5 for a player who actually gives a damn. Someone aggressive. Smart, Exum, Gordon. At least 1 of these will be available when we draft. Hell no to Vonleh.
