What's new

Initial All-Star balloting returns are in

OK I thought this would be awesome in jive....I was right:

CP3 gots a sick A:TO ratio. 'S coo', bro. Jazz fans continuously bitch and overlook dis. Duzn't snatch me wrong. What it is, Mama! ah' love plum about everydin' about Williams. He's some ****in' rock solid, winna' rolln, all-put-gimme-a-championship-if-I-have-to-earn-it-myself son uh a bitch. Lop some boogie. Dis duzn't make him automatically #1. We gots spoiled and Utah traded Stockholm syndrom fo' Stockton syndrome. In an age uh point guards, it be possible D-Gots'ta ain't de best PG. Rondo, etc. Co' got d' beat! gots been nodin' sho't uh sick. Ya' know? Duzn't snatch dat away plum to pump air into D-Will's sail. Wid all dis said, ah' recon' whut Deron Williams adds t'dis team and brin's t'de table every raple game gots earned him an MVP discussion. 'S coo', bro. Top five. No doubt in mah' mind. Williams be about so's much mo'e dan stat sheets and bein' de best at his posishun.

Y'know, this doesn't help our reading level one bit!

The real problem is allowing all star voting via internet. That's why Yao gets so many votes from China. I really think they should limit voting to at the NBA arenas.
But as long as fans do the voting, it's just a popularity contest, not based on who is most deserving.
AC Green over Karl Malone still is the worst I ever saw.

The center position in the NBA is pretty darn weak right now

Only because for some stupid reason all the centers want to be called power forwards. If it plays like a center and is guarded by centers (predominantly) then it is a CENTER, no matter what Gasol and Duncan say. Can't wait for the magic to start listing dwight howard as a forward.

I've never really got into the whole all star game thing. To me, that is the most unwatchable game in any sport (including women's lacrosse) all year.

I hope DWill doesn't make it at all. He could use the rest AND would be pissed he didn't and would go off.

Then again who really believes the Western Conference coach is going to not pick him?

Deron will definitely be there. It's a joke that he's 5th among guards but consider last year this time (https://www.nba.com/2009/news/12/10/allstar.vote.update.1/index.html"]https://www.nba.com/2009/news/12/10/allstar.vote.update.1/index.html[/URL])he was 10th among guards...TENTH! behind the likes of Aaron Brooks, Jason Terry, Jason Kidd, and Chauncey Billups. That progress gives me hope that eventually Deron will rightfully be named a starter - after all Karl Malone certainly wasn't the most popular player ever but he was regarded as the best at his position and voted a starter 8 times in his career.

Top three centers in the voting: Yao, Bynum, Haywood

Funny.

One has only played a handful of games and is out again.
Another has played just 1 or 2 games this year.
Another comes off the bench for maybe 20 minutes a night.

If Jefferson is considered a center, he could get voted onto the team by the coaches.

Pau Gasol is more of a PF than Jefferson is. Tim Duncan has been exclusively a C since Robinson retired, though.

Disagree about Gasol. With as much time as Bynum has missed he has filled the traditional center role far more, and was nothing but center before he got to LA. He is solidly a center.

Agree about Duncan. Even with the admiral is was arguable who was filling the center role on that team. Malone guarded Robinson as much or more than Duncan back in the day.

Duncan's a center. Gasol at PF is more forgiveable. When Bynum's healthy Gasol starts at PF - which he did for the majority of 09-10. He plays center next to Odom though. In Memphis, with the exception of 06-07 when the Grizzlies played small-ball, Gasol was their PF - playing next to the great Lorenzen Wright.

And Utah players will always only get in on the coaches vote. We don't have a big enough fan base to vote anyone in.

....Utah will always be equated with white, slow and generally....anti-hopper! Nobody out side of Utah is going to vote or support anything from the state! If you list 10 NBA teams that fans could vote on to deep six or disolve....Utah would rank number 1.

CP3 doesn't 'gamble' for steals. Gambling is when you're out of position and hurting your teams defense solely based on trying to get steals. Chris Paul doesn't do this. Jazz fans should only hope for Deron to get more steals as it takes possessions away from the opposing teams. How could that be a bad thing? Oh I guess it's only bad when Chris Paul does it right? LMAO.

And you guys know All-Star fan voting is for the fans. It's for who the fans want to see and it looks like during these initial results, the fans want to see Chris Paul. It's not like the Hornets have been having many nationally televised games.

The All-Star voting has turned into Chinese Idol. If you polled the fans who watch more than 30 games a year, I bet you would see different results than Yao starting at center.

I'd love to see the total votes by country/region. Allowing China to vote like they do is a joke.

OOH really i see good steals and bad steals.
if you gamble on a steal and you miss the steal your man is basiccally open. now if you have good interiour defense cp3 has okafur it could be corrected. but if the offense is better lets say.
cp3 guards player A. cp3 gambles on that steal player a gets open drives to the paint now okafur blocks his layup no harm done. now lets say okafur is giarding player b decides to challenge the open player a wich is open because of cp3 gamble. player a passes to player b and scores. is that great deafense?

i'm just saying when i watch ceepee3 he gambles to much
so what if he gets 3 steals per game. how many gambles go wrong.
