I thought players that didn't perform to expectations in their contract year were all but guaranteed a max.
I'm not ready to give up on him just yet.
His saving grace would be if he could turn up fit and mobile and start hitting 3's this year. DL promised that this will happen, but it'll be up to Enes to start hitting them.
If he cannot, I'm afraid he might just turn out to be another Koufus... sadly.
Trade him, along with a lot of 1st round draft picks and Burks, for Kevin Love.

Yeah, I would rather he make sure he is healthy rather than playing for Turkey. No offense Turks. I watched him when he played for them before and should never play with those chuckers again. That was a serious suck fest and not worth anyone's time. Yao's commitment to the China National Team ended up shortening his career. Wasn't really worth it. But then, I'm not Chinese. . .

Koufos was a late 1st round pick (23rd overall in 2008), and has made himself into a serviceable rotation big. Currently, Koufos is better than Enes. True, if Enes ends up a 3rd/4th big, it'll be a disappointment, but Koufos isn't terrible, especially for where he was drafted.
That's really what I was getting at. Although he can potentially overtake Koufos with that 3pt shoot and a better mobility to make up for his defensive deficiency (ala Kevin Love).
But yeah he would need to show us at least glimpses of what he could do before we'll fork out the big bucks for him.
No offense taken but, you clearly coincided with one of the worst Turkish NTs ever, with a Corbinesque rookie coach. Enes could thrive, for instance, in the 2010 NT or he can glow the coming years with the players of the 92-96 generation which is one of the top three in Europe currently.
Nevertheless, you might be right for this year, because the current NT is very obscure.

He aliniated the country and its people for ahatwver idiotic motive of his own. No one wants to see Kanter around or hear about him. The Turkish NT has obviously invited Kanter only to be politically correct that is not to appear as reciprocating his hostility, not for playing him. And then to save the situation Kanter surprisingly comes up with this knee thing. He is one of his kind, surely less mature than a normal 15 yr old.

Enes should contact Gordon's camp I see max money in his future. On a serious note Kanter is probably our second best offensive weapon behind Burks on the team. All this Kanter hate is retarded him and Burks have gotten the least burn and showed more then the other core players on their offensive potential. No one besides Favors and Gobert have shown anything defensively. Hayward and Burke are meh in other categories if they try to be the horses then watch out. or we are just working towards building a team of 2nd round picks from the new strategy that we have moved towards.

The strange thing is only coach Ataman talked about his injury. We suddenly get to learn he won't play. That's a shame because it'd be wonderful to watch him with Omer Asik. He successfully played the PF for the Turkish national team in the past with considerable success. FYI, he was shooting threes too, and making them! At the age of 18, against the top competition.
Kanter had problems with the Turkish NT team before. But this time he might be having another type of problem. He is actively going into some political discussions regarding a police operation on the Gulen Sect members in Turkey, among other things. He is criticizing the ruling government who have a lot of say on the national teams. I hate conspiracy theories but it seems quite likely he may be off the national team for that very reason and injury news is hoax. Just like that, with the slap of fingers -and for you Americans these irrational Eastern things will be impossible to fully comprehend so don't try.
Now it'd be a good idea to go back in history a bit. I am 100% sure, had the Jazz kept Mehmet Okur around, Kanter would have been twice the player he is now, and a much mature man with a brighter mind. Okur is not only a true athlete on the court but is also a sophisticated person with modern worldview and secular lifestyle. No wonder why he is respected by Turkish people much. But Memo left, Kanter became a lost puppy. Gulen guys are pretty active in SLC I've heard, so they contacted Kanter too, are essentially screwing up his career. Dude does not eat whole day ffs. It's probably more than one year since he banged a woman. Probably doing dozens of other Muslim stuff. And finally finding himself in silly political discussions.

You know what I love about summer is I can forget about all the things that I don't like in a player and get excited for their growth once again. I want to see what Kanter can do this year and hope it turns out for the better, for all.
