What's new

It's More Than Us Jazz Fanz that Want Neto Now!

But where will it be by the end of the season?
Good question.

I will predict that it week be the same..... sadly.

(Burke, neto, exum)

He's not a two guard. Please stop.

If Exum was only 6'2" would you still think that he's primarily a two-guard?

Absolutely. I think he has more point guard attributes than Burks does, but that doesn't make him a point. Because a player can handle and pass doesn't make them a point guard.

I'm a bit confused about why Neto isn't coming over. I know there are strategies with regard to contracts and playing time, etc. But, there's willingness on his end, he has established rapport with some of our players, and we have a clear need for creative players. I think the pros of bringing him over now seem to outweigh the cons. But, I suppose another year overseas can't hurt too much.

Anyway, I still laugh at the jazzfanzers who think this is a major issue. Neto is a 8th or 9th guy at best.

Sometimes when a coach decides to start a player, it gives that player confidence because he realizes that the coach has confidence in the player and believes in him.

How long does that confidence last as he gets shredded on the court?

I like Netos chances. He definitely needs to speed up the release on his jumper doe.

A good point. I do see he has both a quick release on certain shots and a slower release on others. See the video for when he had all day to measure a three pointer, versus other shots in traffic when he squeezed the trigger more quickly.

I don't know.
Would love to find out though. (I have heard that his confidence/attitude/swagger is one of his strengths)

Oh please stop. DL owns that draft. Aren't there enough real reasons to not like Ty?
There was a lot of talk that corbin was the one who pushed for trey.

Btw, the jazz have about 5 or more people involved in thier draft decision making process..... and the coach has a lot of say about it.

What besides "point guard attributes" makes someone a point guard. Blow my mind.

The feel for the game, understanding how to control/dictate tempo, etc. Not sure why you didn't include my last sentence in the quote considering it answered the question for you.

NBA teams are like very difficult puzzles with contracts fitting together, so I'd like to assume DL has his reasoning for not bringing him over quite yet. But I agree that he'd be 8th or 9th guy at best - but I think he'd be an excellent source of depth in that role.

I think Neto is better than Burke right now. Don't think it's tanking at all to move Burke and bring over Neto.
Neto was better than Burke at summer league last year.Trey has got the nod over Raul simply because he was a 3rd pick and not a 47th pick. I have mentioned many times that Neto is our guy at point guard. The Jazz not bringing him to the team now is a mistake on the Jazz part.

Not if he can always create that much space!! As a point guard your main focuses are setting up plays, court awareness, with precision passing. He seems to me he's not a attack/shoot first point guard (Like Mo Williams) so the fact that he has these kind of weapons are in his favor. Hell I would take a point guard that could even be a solid spot up shooter. The fact that Neto will knock down jumpers when defenders give him enough space makes me happy. A little too happy(queue half-chubby here). Weather or not we get rid of Burke, I want Neto.

not true at all.

let's be honest here. right now it's

burke > neto > exum

We havne't seen Neto/Exum play in NBA, a bit too early!!

Absolutely. I think he has more point guard attributes than Burks does, but that doesn't make him a point. Because a player can handle and pass doesn't make them a point guard.

His natural abilites look like point guard, if he desires he can be an excelent 2 guard like alec burks or McBucketts, same frame just needs to put on a little muscle/handle.
I could see Exum running off screens and causing chaos, he's already got great court awareness. He needs to start playing to his strengths.

Understood. But one guy's *** is on the line for this decision: Lindsay. If he chose to listen to Ty against his own better judgment, it is still on him. Responsibility and accountability. I be Lindsay would agree.

Not if Corbin felt that the team was sabotaging him and so he insisted that the Jazz get the guy he wanted. If felt (from watching the games) that Burke was the only young guy that Corbin was willing to give time to as a rookie.

Doubtful. The NBA is quite the step up from playing Argentina NT. I like Neto and would like to see him here asap. No offense need be taken from my comments on his jumper.
