2014 College Football

Fish stop trying to draw comparisons to the Utah Jazz and BYU.

I was actually drawing comparisons to having a star player up for the highest award in his sport on your favorite team.... and whether or not a fan should be excited about it or not. could be any sport at any level

Lol. No, it wasn't.
If not, it was close.

Notre dame, texas, wisconson, wasington, boise state, utah, utah state, georgia tech, houston, virginia, nevada, middle tennesee, idaho state

Ohio states schedule this year..... NAVY, virginia tech, KENT STATE, cincinnatti, maryland, rutgers, penn state, illinois, michigan state, minnesota, indiana, michigan.

So michigan state is good..... penn state maybe. We just saw notre dame destroy michigan.

Who else looks tough on that schedule?

You guys play a lot of teams that use to be good.

Lol. No, it wasn't.

Virginia (2-10), Texas (8-5), Utah (5-7), Middle TN (8-5), Utah State (9-5), Georgia Tech (7-6), Houston (8-5), Boise St (8-5), Wisconsin(9-4), Idaho St, Notre Dame (9-4), Nevada (4-8), Washington (9-4) - 3 of them ranked 3 teams that ended with a losing record.

Which conferences other than SEC and Pac 12 had an average better schedule than this?

That's not the point.
Someone said that when you are in a P5 conference that you play tough games every week and get beat up with no rest.

So look at Ohio state's P5 conference schedule. Is the gauntlet of Maryland, rutgers, cincinatti, illinois etc really that tough?

Not all P5 conference schedules are that tough

Jazzman12 was saying that if utahs qb was #4 on the hiesman ranking after 2 weeks that he wouldn't be excited.
I'm simply calling BS on that.

Hell, you are all excited about that Dak dude after 1.4 games and he isn't anywhere on the heisman radar

Most BIG and Big 12 schools

Give me some schedules and records doe
No. I have better stuff to do than argue with some dude who thinks Idaho St. is better than Oklahoma St. because their record may be better.

Don't wanna browse any of last year's schedules either. Looking at BYU's schedule there are three, possibly four teams in the Big12 that were better than anyone on their schedule. Wisconsin ended strong last year iirc, but were bad in the first half of the season. Ohio St. and Mich St. were superior anyway.

The best teams on BYU's schedule were solid, but ultimately, similar to middle of power conference teams. And those were the best ones.

If you can't see how this is easier than playing the likes of Ohio st. Mich st. Wisconsin Iowa Nebraska etc. or Oklahoma st. Oklahoma Baylor KState etc., then Idk what to say.

FWIW i think travis wilson is a very good quarterback when healthy (and underrated by non ute fans) and i would not be surprised to see him end up as a better qb than taysom when its all said and done.

Right now it just seems strange to argue that wilson is currently considered a better quarterback.
Basically any non-ute fan would have tayson ranked higher than wilson right now.
Wait, what? There are people, even ute fans, saying TW is better than Hill? rotflmao. That's just embarrassing.

Lol
harbaugh and stanford drafted hill as thier qb and at the time hill was thought of as a pro-style QB, rather than an option type.

Stanford was moving Hill to S, so Hill moved to BYU. And no intelligent coach would ever think of Hill as a pro style QB. He can't do it.

We know that the BYU would struggle to make a bowl game in the SEC, PAC-12 and Big 12 due to strength of conference and TCU. Both Utah and TCU struggled when their QB went down. It's not a starting lineup thing. It's a depth thing. You will have injuries. You will need depth. BYU doesn't have it and would struggle in those conferences.

I'd even put the Big 10 in that category. I don't think BYU makes a bowl game in the Big 10 either. It's too deep. You'd have injuries. Then you'd lose games.

Magic can happen fellas. A mid-major can run the table against a ****ty SOS and still get love or an EA cover shot. '84, '96, '01 Cougs. '04 and '08 Utes.

Nebraska
Wyoming (5-7), Southern Miss (1-11), UCLA (10-3), South Dakota St (Div 2?), Illinois (4-8), Purdue (1-11), Minn (8-5), Northwestern (5-7), Michigan (7-6), Michigan St (13-1), Penn st (7-5), Iowa (8-5), Georgia (8-5)

Two ranked, one Div 2, 5 with losing records I'm sure they were beat up with that S. Dakota St to Purdue stretch, no time to heal up
Doesn't look better, looks about the same.

Whatever though, don't really care. I just think you're hyping the "power" conference schedules when they have crappy teams in there too and it's not that different than last year. This year, yea, way different.
