There are some teams that don't belong to a conference (I think about 5 teams or so) and those teams do not have officials representing them.

Yeah, it's odd, but I tend to think refs get to keep their jobs based on consistently making the proper calls.

Some refs **** up, and sometimes it does decide the game, but the times a winner and loser is decided by refs are few and far between. Even the odds a referee's decision being the decided factor are miniscule, so you would have to think that a blown call in that scenario would be an even lower percentage.

I agree.
My whole point is that I dont think that "conference officials" should even exist..... and I have always felt this way, even when byu was in a conference and had thier own officials.

I doubt I'm the only one who feels this way (according to the article I linked, I'm not the only one apparently)
 
In order to get rid of the conference officials and have one body of equally paid officials, a lot more money would have to be directed towards officiating, and I doubt most mid majors would want to pay for that.

So, unless the P5 break off, it's probably not gonna happen.

College? Idk

I will be watching Atlanta vs Tampa bay in nfl tonight at a friend's house though.

I have Stephen Jackson on my FF team and he has been on my bench the first few weeks but due to injuries I am starting him this week. Hoping for just one touchdown out of him

I am excited for the utes game this weekend. It sucks that I will be at work and it's at the same time as the byu game. I will have to record them both.

If the utes can stop the run, they win imo.

I think Wilson is plenty good enough to pass and run the offense well enough to win..... but michigans RB is a beast and we all know that Gardner is a fantastic athlete. Utes need to make him pass alot.

Where's the game? I don't know about Auburn, but I don't think K-State is all that great this year. Their defense is not as good as past seasons, particularly their linebackers who are not fast and can be exposed by speedy skill players (which I'm sure Auburn has)

I really can't dispute that. The one thing I would say in defense of Utah: After all the missed FG's, Utah still had to mount a game winning drive against what I felt was the best defense in the nation. I'd feel a bit worse about the win if it had ended on TCU missing one of those chip shots.

This is such a zoob response. TCU didn't "lose" that game more than Utah "won" it. Utah made plays, TCU didn't. Utah hit FG's, TCU didn't. TCU couldn't get first downs because Utah stopped them, which led to FG opportunities. And guess what? TCU wasn't good enough to make them.

I disagree completely. Utah won that game. TCU wasn't good enough. Take KaDeem Carey off Arizona and Arizona loses a ton of games last year. Give TCU a better kicker and they beat Alabama in 2008. That doesn't change the fact that Carey was an amazing RB who carried his team to wins and TCU's kicker wasn't good enough to carry his team to wins.

Utah was the better team that year and that day and the win shows it.
 
Ah, I wasn't aware that Auburn can't pass. Makes them slightly easier to defend.

Valid argument. When people say Utah didn't "win" that game, they're so quick to omit the fact that Utah still had to march down the field against an amazing defense to win the game. Just try to remember Green, this argument usually comes from the same fan base that after a 54-10 beat down at the hands of Utah, had a large amount of fans complain that BYU kept shooting themselves in the foot. You'll never hear the recollections of John White running untouched through the secondary, Jordan Wynn having no problem connecting with Dres and Jake Murphy, or Utah's Dline manhandling the LOS from the second they stepped off the bus. Of course it wasn't about what Utah did, it was about what BYU didn't do.

It's the same fan base that loves to run some Pac12 smack talk when as of right now, their team is praying that a big conference will eventually invite them. The same fan base that's lost 4 in a row to Utah, 7 of the last 10, and 14 of the last 20, yet somehow claim that Utah is "lucky" that they don't have to play BYU this year. If you're looking for anything other than an "it's all about us" point of view, please don't hold your breath.

They are definitely a run dominant team. Not sure how they made it to the Championship game last year. MSU should have beaten them early in the season last year, but choked the game away in the 4th.
 
Also, Mississippi State's next 3 games are @LSU, Texas A&M, and Auburn.

Those teams are ranked 8, 6, and 5 respectively.

After that stretch they go play Kentucky, who just took Florida to 3 OT's on the road.

Schedule is insane. Who does BYU play the next 4 weeks, lol/
