Following potential 2015 draftees

This guys gonna be good, 90 grade or better.. for realz , remember the name (Pronounced Joe Chee), this is a story that being vastly under-reported, and seems kinda Chinese. I really really hope they're not lying about his age ('96), because it'd be 100x worse than the Danny Almonte story, dudes been obliterating these U16 and U18 tournaments for quite some time. He looks young for his age though, and he's Very tall 7'1-7'2 right now, and he could certainly still be growing.

Qi will need to play Center, so he wont be ready for some time, he needs to add at least 15lbs, not sure if hes really 215 right now, he's really one of the skinniest players i can remember, It looks like hes barely 200 lbs, he's probably in the 190's.

this prospect threw me for a loop, once i saw him dribbling the ball in the open court, shooting and running, I knew i had to watch everything.

I know ill be the only one on this ship, but id take him over Guven, no questions asked. Theyre gonna dub him the future of Chinese basketball / The next Yao Ming, hes a certain 1st rounder.

Zhou Qi will be a cash cow, for whomever drafts him, his presence alone will put millions of extra eyes on the team. The funny thing is he might end up really good, and really tough to stop in the paint, hes got plenty of advanced post moves already, hes got shooting touch, he blocks shots, hes got nice coordination for a 7'2 18 year old, his wingspan is massive, in the 7'5" range.

this dude puts up insane stats, hes really quite gifted and makes things look easy. In his first 3 games this season in the CBA his averages are the following;

29mpg, 14/16 fg's (87.5%), 14/20 ft's (70%), 9 rpg, 1.7 asts. 3 blks, 1 stl.

73 rating for me.

Don't know why when I see a massive chinese player I have visions of asian mad scientists creating some cloned human in the lab..

great quickness / anticipation for a 7 footer

Illimane Diop will be drafted in the first round this year, I have no doubts about that. hes a year older than Qi, and 2 years ago Qi dropped 20 15with 3 blocks on him in the championship game of the U17 world tourney. the full games on youtube, its damn interesting, Qi has a chance to shoot some wicked efficient %'s. He's got a great chance to develop some devastating go-to moves.

Damn, that looked impressive! His handle, his mobility, his touch, his up and under! They look great for a big man. Is he declaring for 2015? If he's 7'2'' and 215 he needs to add more than 15 pounds. 35 is more like it.

He could actually declare this year, I dont think we see many '96 born players in this draft though, these draftee's are basically the age of the youngins from last year. If i was his advisor id tell him to declare, no way would he fall outa the first, If he turns out to be good the ramifications are well worth the gamble.

Qi's salary is unlisted, from what i can understand from translated articles, the reason his salary is unlisted is because they dont want to piss off the vets, so id imagine hes quite comfortable in the CBA and cant be in a rush to get to the league.

This seems like a big deal (in china) that's being underreported(here), Im sure they have some plan to hype the hell out of this kid, when hes ready.

It looks like hes about to stomp on the CBA this year, which will certainly push the envelope. He's even skinnier than Porzingis was when i first saw him, but Kristaps really did go from twig status, to not that bad, in under a year, Qi can do the same hopefully but I cant presume he's as driven as Porzi.

If theyre lying about his age, he was born in September 1992.. (which suuuuuuucks. I'm believing them for now though.)

5.4 blocks per game in this tournament. he shot 79% from the line too, on volume attempts.

To me he looks like a less explosive Rudy with better hands and touch.

This kid's already forgot post moves that Rudy couldnt handle, hes got faceup and back to the basket potential. Go-to moves are a big thing for me when im looking at 7'ers, Id have taken Brook Lopez 3rd, over Kevin Love, and Michael Beasley in '06. (after Rose and Westbrook)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPhexXmkyVs

I dont mean to be constantly talking bad about Rudy, but hes kind of limited to the Tyson Chandler skillset, so when i see potential 2 way players with potential go-to moves(like Alex Len), I just see a different ceiling. I was a huge proponent of Rudy's in the 2013 draftee's thread(said the whole time he was fringe lotto talent), his skill level isnt close to Qi's though, Qi dominates the games that he plays in.

Yah, I can agree... on the offensive end it's not close. We should be happy if Rudy manages to develop some hand strength and coordination in offense to keep the ball in his hands once he receives it. Rudy actually has a nice pass and vision, but the problem is he can't control the ball in his hands for long enough to make those passes.

fashoo, I actually really just want to see Rudy shoot better from the line, his french league %'s fooled me into thinking he was more reliable. Qi looks like a 75-80% FT shooter legitimately.

Hehe.. Mam Jaiteh is now in the first round of DX's mock. Dakari's moved into the top 20, which is still too low.

I think DX and NBAdarft are both missing Amida Brimah from their mocks, I predict he's in this years draft and safely around the top 20. kinda has a 'poormans' Mutombo skillset.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbTp8YVuZNc some of you may remember me talking Brimah up during the tournament last year (before they won it)

UConn does a 3.4 mile 'Husky' run every year, hes the first 7'er to win the thing, completed it in 20 minutes.

This is the first recuit Kevin Ollie ever got, and the story is funny. Ollie is very, very lucky, there's a 4 star bigman named Steven Enoch with NBA potential that fell in his lap this year too.

Heading out for the day, before I go. jazzfanz, i wanted to ask -

do you think the positions the Jazz list the current roster at, could possibly be tipping their hand at which position will be drafted?

I mean specifically Hayward at SG, Burks at PG, and Exum at SG... When i first started thinking about those listed positions, I thought to myself, 'They're gonna target a SF in the draft, with a bigman as the plan B'.

Im probably wrong, and jumping to conclusions, we wont know the answer til draft night though.

Hayward, to me, looks like much more of a natural SF (and less of a white guy on the court) with this added weight. I always said if they're gonna play Hayward at SF they should have a 6'5" PG, i'm happy either way.

That led me to thinking, The Jazz could draft a SG, not any SG(most of which would be redundant), This one:

thoughts? DX has him ranked over Stanley Johnson(disagree). Winslow's been on the scene forever, and has most likely been overanalyzed because of it... His value skyrocketed at the 2012 Adidas Nations camp... same as Dante.

Some will tell you that his 'intangibles' are on MKG levels, dude's obviously a gym rat, hes had grown mans shoulders and arms since his early teenage years. I really like how low he dribbles. He's a demon on the boards.

Burks is the SG now, Hayward is SF and Exum will be our PG of the future. With the Jazz not extending Kanter, it seems like we will be targeting a stretch 4/big next season. Another position of need is elite wing defender and here both Winslow and Stanley Johnson seem like great candidates. Neither of them can shoot to save their lives. I personally like Stanley Johnson better, he seems more versatile offensively...

Karl Towns

.. and yes.. Johnson over Winslow all day.

If the Jazz magically won a ton of games this season (lol) we could also target Kaminsky. Plus he's white.
