What's new

14th Tank Platoon

Burks is simply not good. Don't look at per 36s, look at the game and his advanced. He disrupts the team concept. There's a reason he hasn't gotten more playing time, because he makes everyone around him worse when his basketball antics aren't working. He doesn't defend anyone and there's one reason you shouldn't compare him to Wade: Wade was a roolkie, this is Burks 3rd year and he's barely efficient when playing vs reserve units. One is a first year I still got to figure it out production vs starter, the other guy is 3rd year against reserves and stuff. As I said. $3M is max I'd spend on him in this condition.
ANd I forgot. His BBIQ and off ball movement are so low. Really a no show if playing off the ball. But then again: His 3 pointer is shaky. Not much spacing he can provide. Everyone takes away the backdoor cut when helping away from him.

last night only attempts 8 shots and is +11 in 31 extremely efficient minutes (6-8). Also rebounded well (5) played team ball and passed well.
totally took beal out of his game by harassing him on the defensive end all night too.

SMD

If anything, burks needs to be a little bit more of a ball hog.

This could be said of d wade as well
Burks, when in his proper roll, shouldn't play off the ball much.

Dont look at the numbers, look at the situations
Burks first year was a lock out year with no pre-season or fall camp and then a bunch of DNPCD's and inconsistent minutes. His second year there was no point guard (due to mo injury) and burks again got alot of dnp's and inconsistent minutes combined with inconsistent postition/role (point guard or shooting guard)
Burks has been coached by corbin

This year he is finally getting consistent minutes and consistent role and actually being used to his strengths at times.
This is kinda like the rookie year he never had.... and he is 22 years old. (dwayne wades rookie year he was 21/22)

Tonight has the potential to be a really good night for the tank.

Lakers vs Knicks: someone has to win and both are 16 win teams bunched in with the jazz. Hope for Lakers

Magic vs Pelicans: magic with 12 wins and pelicans with 17. Pelicans at home and lets hope they win, since we probably cant compete with orlandos tank.

Suns vs Cavs: Cavs have 16 wins... this one is at home for cleveland. GO CAVS!

Nets vs Celtics: nets with 19 wins (not too worried about them) and celts with 15 wins. this game is in boston. GO CELTICS! come on rondo!

Pistons vs mavs: Pistons with only 17 wins so i hope they win but at least if the mavs win then they get closer to GS. (mavs with 25 wins and GS with 26 right now)

Trailblazers vs Warriors: In golden state but the blazers are good. GO BLAZERS!

Nuggets vs Kings: This game is in sacramento so hopefully they can pull out the win. Kings with 15 wins.

For comparison: Jazz have 15 wins so tonight could be HUGE

By your logic that he should have the ball all the time Mo going down would be his catalyst to get him going. But he neither has good ball handling, nor court vision, nor decision making. There's a reason his WS/48 were below .07 the last years when the Jazz weren't dead last in defense in the NBA unlike this year. He's simply not efficient and we can talk about it next year again. When I see him I see a black hole who doesn't even produce to make his black holing semi legitimate. Next year new coach, new role. But I say: no breakout. He's simply too limited.

Why not talk about him this year......now that he has consistent minutes and a constistent role.
You should try watching some games first though and you will see him running the offense, not ball hogging, hitting 3 point shots at a 40percent clip the last few months, making the right passes, playing under control, while still getting to the rim and finishing amazing shots.

Talk with me about last nights game for instance...........

Oh ya and his defense is much improved. Last night i saw him making the right rotations on help defense and understanding when to switch on screens and pick and rolls. He was harrassing the hell out of bradley beal.

He still struggles against players that are bigger and more physical than him, the ones that back him down and go right at him, but he is getting better and he has been quite good against some of the smaller quicker guys (damian lillard and mo williams had a hard time against him earlier this year)

You are stuck on the alec burks that you have seen the last few years with inconsistent minutes and roles..... The alec burks of the last few months is a whole different player.

Keep your hate alive though bro, its all good

By your logic that he should have the ball all the time Mo going down would be his catalyst to get him going.

He played his best ball last year when mo was out and alec was getting more minutes because we had to have him play point guard

Also for BTP
Alec burks is shooting a better percentage than gordon and trey from the field....... and is shooting better from the 3pt line than gordon. Oh and turning the ball over less than both of them.
Keep believing that burks is an inefficient chucker though.

Hayward has attempted 102 more shots than burks....... burks has been to the line 2 more times than gordon though.

Jefferson and marv are similar in minutes to burks, but burks has 42 more assists than jeffy and 83 more assists than marv (though marv did miss some games, but burks still averages 1.7 more assists per game than marv anyways)

And this is for the whole season, alec was horrible in november

His November is almost erased as he was consistent in averages through December and January. So there's that. I don't know why you measure Burks assist numbers with those guys. Makes no sense to me. But if I feel like it I'll comment Burks next game a little in depth. I'm fairly sure my assessment is not far off.

Black hole? Serious?

Fair enough.

That sucks!

Guys that strenght of schedule picture was postet by Ed Kupfer the 15th of January so it's a little older.

Our schedule is getting easier towards the end of the season so we probably win some more games.

The schedule of the Kings, Pelicans, Magic and Celtics are also getting easier, so let's hope these teams win some more games as well.

The schedule of the Lakers and the Bucks is getting tougher, the Bucks are on their own anyway so screw them but the Lakers could fall and fall and fall....

The 76ers had a pretty easy schedule and it's stays about the same.

We had THE toughest schedule so far and still managed to win 15 games so I really lost my hope bout that pick. I don't know what DL will do but he better do something!

GSW watch:

The GSW schedule surprised me a little bit because I actually thought they had a pretty hard schedule in the early going and it's getting easier but it is actually getting tougher. At the same time the schedule of the Wolves and the Grizzlies are getting easier but the Mavs, the Suns and the Nuggets schedule is getting harder as well.
So two teams who are out of the playoff picture could move up the ladder and three teams could fall. If we don't get a top 5 pick it would at least be great to get an other lottery pick....
