Perhaps the biggest reason to have optimism that Burks could be kind of a big deal is that he takes all of attributes, and slathers it all in a delicious fearless sauce.

Let's try to remember that for all of his warts, Burks already gets to the line at an all-star rate, is explosive, quick, crafty, can handle the ball, and shoots alright in catch-and-shoot situations.
And there's no guarantee that Burks will be better than the #2. In fact there's a really good chance that he won't be better than #2.

I'm not hitching my wagon to him being the next Kobe, but there's a lot of reason to be very optimistic about the player he could become.

If you can show me a player worthy of the number 2 pick, then I would do your Al, GS and Burks in a heartbeat. Problem is, there isn't a Durant/Wade/Bosh/Deron available there, and Burks may very well be as good as whoever we would take at #2. If I am going to take a chance, the better risk would be waiting on GS's pick than trading Burks for the #2. Burks is already a somewhat known commodity.

I admit Burks has a bright future, but I think you guys have your Jazz goggles on a little too tight. The guy was the 12th pick, and it's not like he had a Faried like rookie year where you'd say oh he should have gone top 5. My thought process is that a #2 pick has a much better chance of reaching a higher ceiling than a #12. The Jazz have good pieces, but does anyone really think we have any all-NBA 1st or 2nd teamers currently on our roster? Sounds like I'm in the minority, but I'd package a #12 and a #10-15 next year for #2 this year. Yeah I'm not going to get a Durant (who is a once in a decade type player), but I could get a Westbrook or a Love or a Ray Allen.

As a fervent Big Al hater, I know this is heresy for me to say, but I think on the Jazz (off the bench preferably), I think he could've really helped. Maggette certainly never helped abysmal teams be anything but, but it's hard to say that in a different situation, his fate would be sealed as a total ball-hog.Too bad Corey Maggette was never on a good team. Hopefully Burks can do what Maggette did in his prime, but on a winning team.
