What's new

2011 draft.....

Feel the same way. 2 studs and a lot of what ifs.

Also the two studs are a little iffy too...Dwill2 could be meh or a good player, but not an all-star.
Irving might not be a super stud in the NBA either. Although he looks good in paper, and in limited time this year, is he really a sure thing?

I dont claim to be an expert, but I have watched a lot of T Jones. Really his only weakness is his shot. watch enough an dyou will be able to tell. He can of winds up on it. He needs to pull the trigger much faster in the NBA. This is strictly with his set up jump shots. Around the rim he is very fluid.

Okay, I see that. I think that's fixable. I'm liking Jones more and more on this team.

I think Williams will be very good in the NBA

How can you say Williams won't be an all-star? Dude shot around 65% from the field AND three point land for much of the year until supposedly injuring a finger. He can shoot (I would guess he had the highest efficiency in NCAA history or was damn close), create his own shot, and get to the foul line (more than anyone else in the country) and those are huge skillsets. May he suck on defense? Yep. But that doesn't mean he couldn't be a seven time all-star.

I'm not saying he WILL be an all-star but to say with so much confidence that he won't be one is a bit silly at this point.

In all the years I have followed basketball and the draft, this is the biggest gap between the top of the board and the rest. The worst pick in this draft is going to be #3, and I expect the Jazz to get it.

Would you trade the #3, our other pick (let's say it's ours and is #12), and our GS pick next year to move up one spot and get the #2 pick? Would the team slotted #2 do it as described? If said team threw in their (very high) 2nd rounder this year too?

I would not include the GS pick, simply because next year's darft will probably be strong and the Jazz might not have a pick, but I would offer the 3 and 12 for the 2. I doubt the other team bites, though. The #3 this year will be a guy who a month ago might have been #8 or #9, but now he's going to get paid as a #3, unless the CBA changes.

Yeah, I highly doubt a team would bite without something additional so I threw in the GS pick as well as the high 2nd back in return to us.

How about #3, #12, and our own 2013 1st rounder?

I only ask because if we're sitting at #3, we need to do what we need to do to move up one spot and get Williams or Irving. You win with studs/all-stars in this league, not the Enes Kanter's of the world.

And yes, I've made it up in my mind that he'll be a major bust, not due due to injuries, but because he looks slow and despite being 6'11", plays below the rim. Love may be successful but he's the exception, not the rule.

Maybe trade #3 for a 2012 pick.

I'd do it for the team's 2nd rounder this year AND their 1st next year.

Minny, Cleveland, Washington, Charlotte, Cleveland, Detroit and Sacramento are probably the only teams I would listen to, that is, if they even have their 1sts next year.

Good points!

I'm still not feeling it. Id take Knight. And what if Phx called and asked for Millsap again. Offering Pietrus, Lopez, and there pick. Would you guys take it? I think, id take it.
