2011 draft.....

Perry Jones is an amazing talent, but the guy doesn't play a winning game. No D, no rebounding, bad shot selection, soft, bad court vision/passer/selfish? Dude is a gamble if ever there was one.

I'd take Irving or Williams over him easily at this stage. Probably Terrence Jones as well. Jones is very tantalizing and tempting, though, but his head is not in the right place and that's not the easiest thing to correct, especially for a high lottery pick (guaranteed the most money, increased tendency to think more highly of themselves than others might, would have a greater tendency to believe they have an inordinate amount of power for a rookie thus more resistant to change).

I'm not saying he's a bad kid either, but there are some very significant on court issues.

Also, call me a xenophobe, but I have no interest in Kanter or Valanciunas.

Kosta Koufos and Kanter have something in common they were both Euro U-18 MVP's. ahah

I guess I'll remain skeptical till i see more stuff form this guy.

Every time he has played against top level American talent he has whipped them.

I wish I knew more about college ball because most of these players sound like characters in some Lithuanian play.

Well, you do know two of the potential lottery picks are Lithuanian right. I can only imagine Harpring and Boler trying to pronounce them.

Kyrie Irving won't even declare unless he is guaranteed the #1 pick, possibly #2. Makes me wonder how big his head is. He could just sit out if Jazz get the lucky draw, or tell them he won't play in Utah if the #2 is an intriguing city.

Sounds like a quality man child.

I hope this is just smokescreen being put up by KOC... From the way the team is set up for next year we don't need another project center but quality wings who can shoot.

If he stays in the draft and we draft him he will play for us. Why would he have picked Durham if location was that important. :)

Why does everyone want Irving so bad? We have Harris who has played pretty good in his first 3 games.

And if the Jazz draft Kanter I will puke. That's all we need, another freakin Euro. They have never worked for us- Hoffa, Fes, who knows if Tomic turns into anything, Goran Sutton,Memo and AK's contract, Lopez,Sasha,Gira

Link? I'd assume this is having more to do with the CBA being uncertain more than anything, if this is true.

I'd be hesitant too if I was leaving a scholarship situation to sit out a year with no income, potentially. Being drafted that high ensures he will get paid pretty well eventually.

Agreed. I haven't heard this, though if it's true, I think the fact that there will almost positively be a lockout until November changes things immensely. You could even spin it that this shows how smart the kid is.

And to answer the "why does everyone want this kid so bad" question; So far (in what is admittedly a small sample size) Irving is playing the point as perfect as a player can. High assist rate, relatively low turnover rate, fantastic shooting percentages and versatility, smart player, hard worker, quick, quality defender. No weakness to his game while also very, very productive on major team and has good physical attributes. Players like that come along very rarely, and they're pretty much always top-3 picks.

John Wall, for example, never was known for having great shot selection, being an efficient scorer, or being a reliable scorer. His jump shot was called into question immediately, and there was reason for that. And this is one of the most heralded PG prospects that ever came out of the draft.

Agreed. If Utah lands the #1 pick, there's no reason not to trade down to the #2 or #3 spot. This team needs a wing that can score, and if Irving is the favorite at #1, Utah could get the wing they need plus a little something else from whatever wants Irving the most.
