I hope the Jazz draft one of the Euro's and Burks or Jimmer. Good enough for me.
Dang, this guy has to be the 3rd pick Jonas Valanciunas. He looks to have a ton of promise. I hope he falls to Utah at 6 and then they wait it out for him to come over. Once his buyout is reasonable. And Kanter came in at 6'9" sad I thought he was almost 7 ft.
Where are you getting their measurements from? Link?
this guy is definitely intriguing. I'd be shocked if he didn't shoot up the draft board simply because of his length.
My initial reaction was to wonder if we could trade CJ for a pick that would nab him.... then I wondered about trading Memo's expiring...
It seems like I go thru this every year: what would it take to pick up a mid- to late-first round pick?
It was either Nbadraft.net or Draftexpress. Pretty sure Draftexpress under Enes. Found it

This was written March 20, 2011. Dunno where they're getting their info or how old it is but they mention his wingspan is 7-6.
Draft Profile: Jonas Valanciunas, C, 6'11, 240 lbs, Lithuania
Out of all the International Prospects in the draft, Valanciunas might be the most intriguing prospect (note: Not the most NBA ready) of them all. Valanciunas isn't the most skilled player, but he's got a fierce competitive streak and boundless energy.
In fact, my closest comparison to him would probably be if you took Jon Brockman, made him 6-11 with a 7-6 wingspan (Valanciunas measurements) and let him loose. Jonas feasts on the boards, especially offensively, where quite a bit of his baskets come from. It's a large reason why his shooting is so efficient (he's shooting 70% right now, impressive even in Europe). He's also great at utilizing his length and strength to finish around the basket.
But Valanciunas isn't much of a scorer or shot creator, which is fine by me (especially when considering we have DeMarcus Cousins. His post-game needs work, and he doesn't take any jumpers (although his free throw percentage is sky-high at 92%). He also turns the ball over too much.
But his defense is outstanding for a player so young, mostly around the basket. He's not the toughest yet as he still needs to put on some weight, but his length lets him contest most shots, although he'll likely need to be a tad less aggressive to avoid foul trouble in the NBA.
Worst case scenario, he's Andris Biedrins redux. Best case? One of the better centers in the league./QUOTE]
I think Kanter can dunk he just chooses to put it back and lay it up. If it goes in, its fine with me. He has really good post moves, can rebound the **** outta the ball and can shoot. Now, can he play D? I bet if he was allowed to play and did well this year he could have gone number 1. He has dominated every other big Euro in the draft and dominated the Hoops Summit.
