What's new

2011 draft.....

according to DX both Vesely and Valanciunas are 240.
Vesely is 21 and Valanciunas is 18.

And I agree it would be nice to have a player that plays with effort. This is why many prefer Bismack I think. Dunno if he'll be there. Dunno where the Jazz are picking. But yeah, I think Bismack is at least 3 on my personal board. Maybe number 1. Not very confident in that though. It's either him or Irving. Or maybe Williams or Kanter. I'm pretty flummoxed. That's the draft this year.

Valaciunas plays hard. I was also surprised to see he shot 70% from the field and 92% from the free throw line. Wow!

I was just commenting on your affinity for players who don't/can't run the floor and/or have little ability/willingness to play team offense and defense. If a guy can hoist up shots, you seem to be on board with that player getting PT at the expense of actual basketball players.

meh.

Link.

Or alternately, I could comment on your affinity for psychoanalyzing a player's mental makeup based on his performance in adjusted +/- or TS% stats.

Perkins is thick/heavy and struggled for playing time due to conditioning early in his career...that's hardly Bimbo. From a very strong defender/weak offensive player, sure, but that's about it. Ibaka seems like a better comparison, no?
Probably, but Ibaka is turning into a major player and my goal was to offer a body type and style of play that was less sensational perhaps and more utility but still very good.

Besides that, Biyombo is 243 as a 19-year old African living in Europe. That is damned impressive and he can definitely put on some strength and weight.

With a 7'7" wingspan his arms alone could hold another 10 lbs of muscle.

biyombo wont be anythng near ibaka, by luck this years draft is weak and he may be choosen in top 10. otherwise he cant even be a lottery player. If we really wanna pick a big man, that should be either enes or valanciunas, i dont think enes will be left till 6 though

In a way I want the jazz to draft kanter and then have him become a great player so that I can sell shirts and bring signs to games that say: how big is your enes?

What he said.

I ultimately stand by my statement, though I used some hyperbole. They are on very comparable trajectories in terms of age and timeline at this stage. And while I'm not saying Biyombo WILL be better, I'm just saying no one knows. There is absolutely no evidence that Ibaka will end up being the better player, even if that is how it actually turns out.

At #12 I want Jimmer Fredette, and with the #6 pick or whichever one the Jazz get I still am undecided, but right now Jimmer is a lock at #12 for me.

So I'm guessing at 6 you do not want Knight or Kemba.

Yes, you guessed right I am starting to lean towards Terrence Jones at #6 and Jimmer at #12. I like Fredette at #12 no matter what unless the Jazz get the #1 pick and draft Kyrie Irving.

Here is what Chad Ford had to say on the #12 pick:

The Jazz have a super slim second chance of winning the lottery. But with this pick all eyes will be on Fredette. Assuming the Jazz don't grab the top spot, virtually everyone sees them grabbing Fredette here. If GM Kevin O'Connor does it, it won't be because he's a local product. The team has scouted him heavily and thinks he can be a starting point guard in the league someday. Boston College's Reggie Jackson is another possibility here if Fredette is off the board.
