2011 draft.....

I'm guessing KOC is getting a boner watching Dirk in this playoffs (as am I) and drooling over the prospect of getting the next Dirk. As I said though, a very early rumor I dont put much stock in.

Uggh, I don't like him at six at all. True, he easily has one of the highest ceiling of any player in the draft, but I think he will probably slide to #12. But I'm not really worried about it. It's just a pre-workout, pre-combine, pre-lottery selection "rumor".

Maby in a normal draft, but in a weak draft such as this I doubt he slides very far. I'm not saying we should draft him, but he does fit in well for this team in that he would create space for Al and Favors, being as Memo looks to be on the decline.

I hope not. Dirk is one-of-a-kind for a reason. And while I HATED the Hayward pick, I figured if he could get through the breakers he'd be okay since he's a smart - but almost more importantly - GRITTY player willing to do what it took to win. And he was consistent. Motiejunas is the absolute definition of soft-serve Euro crap. For a team that's been searching for a real interior presence since Malone and has a serious problem rebounding and holding down the interior, this is the stupidest move they could make. Especially since they already have 3 bigs for the rotation. What?

I would applaud KOC for the balls. It's a huge risk/reward type pick. If he pans out and becomes an all-star, he would be an awesome fit along side Favors in the long term.

And if he never even comes over or crumbles and never makes a contribution are we supposed to applaud KOC's "balls" for totally wasting a top-10 pick?

Well then he gets a ton of backlash, that's why I would applaud the balls. Sometimes that's the risk you have to take to build a championship team (not saying Donatas is the answer, but maybe KOC feels that he could be that key).

Alright. I guess. The one thing this team is missing is a legit superstar talent (I don't see Favors being that guy with his demeanor, nor Hayward with his pedestrian athleticism [it's true]). But a championship-caliber franchise player is more than a tall person with scoring ability. I haven't read, seen, or heard anything that would lead me to believe this guy is that guy, so why chance it?

I'm sorry, I ****ing hate this. I hate that there's even a rumor.

And it would add a player who could create his own shot and spread the floor, something a team can always use.

Shooting, sure, but at what cost? A team doesn't always need someone that can create their own shot either. If that player can't score off of other's playmaking and is either a poor or unwilling passer, then you hurt your team's ability to score. Motiejunas is a skilled passer, but that doesn't mean he's a GOOD passer (it doesn't mean he's passing enough or making passes that are bad decisions).

Motiejunas has some skill and some things you like. But again, at what cost? He's a plainly awful rebounder, defender, and not only shrinks from contact, but doesn't have the strength to do anything about it even if he wanted to. He mails in games, too. He's basically a 7-foot SF with no strength, a high center of gravity, would be way too slow for the 3, and far too weak to play big. That is, if he's still a 7-footer that weighs slightly more than Deron Williams (215). And some people don't add weight and/or strength easily.

Didn't we just go through years of headache dealing with AK's cracked dome all-around and Boozer's cement feet on D? And now the Jazz are looking to combine the worst of both of them but take away rebounding as well? All on the gamble that there's actually two players that are one-of-a-kind? That's an idiotic bet.

Clearly we do not want a Fran Vasquez type situation (either though it sounds like he may come over if there is not a lockout) so KOC and others will have to do their homework to make sure they will come over. At #6 that is a pretty nice contract though. Have not heard of any buyout issues with him.

I like Donatas. About as much as anyone else at 6. It's a crap year - lots of risk reward types. I have my heart set on no one. There are those I fear more than others though. I prefer Donatas to Vesely, for example.

I think some people are expecting KOC to draft our new savior in this draft. Even if we get a top 3 pick I don't see anybody reaching the Lebron/Wade/Durant/Dirk level. So I'm completely prepared to let KOC do whatever he wants in this draft. Either he'll swing for the fence and miss, or he'll draft some key role players that we're going to need down the road. Either way we should be in a relatively similar situation next year and next years draft is going to be the one that KOC should be scrutinized for.

If we are looking for a big, I would pick Biyombo over Motiejunas just because I think Biyombo's game will translate better and faster. Looking at all 4 teams remaining in the playoffs now, they all have defensive-minded, athletic center (Joel Anthony nonetheless) with scoring coming from somewhere else. I still have hope that Favors will eventually become that player though.

Brilliant post. I woulda repped you but it won't let me until someone else says something brilliant.

Yeah, I really like the idea of drafting Bismack just because of his effort on defense. Donatas is only an offensive player - a good one though.

I repeat - this year I have my heart set on NO ONE.
