What's new

2013-2014 Schedule to be released this tuesday (6th August 2013)

Sorry green and heyhey; I had daddy duties to perform.

WC teams Utah only plays three times: Houston (2H, 1A); LA Clippers (1H, 2A); Memphis (2H, 1A), Sacramento (1H, 2A)
WC teams Phoenix only plays three times: Dallas (2H, 1A), Houston (2A, 1H); Minnesota (2A, 1H); Oklahoma City (2H, 1A)

I'd rate that just a slight edge for Utah in terms of winnable games:

1. Cross out Houston, LA Clippers and OKC. Utah and Phoenix should get swept.
2. Utah has an extra home game against Minnesota and away game against Dallas.
3. Phoenis has an extra away game against Memphis and home game vs. Sacramento.

Doesn't that mean suns get to play sac 4 times?

Sacramento and Memphis for Phoenix vs. Dallas and Minnesota for Utah.
Extra home games against Sac and Minnesota are winnable for both teams. Road game in Dallas is easier than road game at Memphis. Like I said, a "slight" edge, IMO. Not very much. Not likely to make a difference. Maybe closer to negligible than slight.

Thanks for doing the numbers. I seriously thought about going and lookin them up but got too lazy. will def rep.

All this tanking enthusiam is hilarious.

Hope stoked doesn't stumble into this thread lol

46-36

Official Prediction.

Jazz win home opener against Thunder which is turn sparks a huge momentum bomb and we end up playing 500 ball through the rough first stretch. We then dominate the middle portion of the schedule, then faltering slightly down the stretch.

I've been well aware of it. Feel free to keep rooting for failure. SMH

Rooting for Wiggins is rooting for failure? Man, those Colt fans who wanted to suck for Luck...they must be so disappointed that they are winning now...

Keep making excuses in an attempt to justify rooting for the Jazz to lose. It's funny.

Wow that is bold.

I say 34-48. Jazz start slow and pick up steam as the season moves on.

Somone has already done an extended schedule analysis based on team strengths/team flight route and rest/opponents flight route and rest ?
I started one at breakfast but got bored when I was finished with November and forgot how many wins I had predicted and dropped it then...

Look at the last month of the season:

4/4 vs NOP
4/6 @ GSW
4/8 vs Dal
4/11 vs Port
4/12 @ Den
4/14 vs LAL
4/16 @ Min

If Stern wanted it to look like the Jazz were tanking to end the season he certainly made it seem reasonable. The Jazz might win 1 of those last 7 games. Brutal.

Actually the last 7 games seem pretty easy compared to the start. Jazz play well in Minnesota and they probably won't be in contention because they are the T-Wolves. Yea I know everyone is predicting the playoffs but until they make it sorry it is a winnable road game. LAL suck and most likely will be out of it. Jazz will lose in Denver because I think the Nuggets will be battling for one of the final playoff spots. I like our chances with Portland (historically do not play well in SLC) and Dallas. GS will be a loss. and New Orleans is New Orleans. Being that it is a home game I would favor the Jazz.

I think the could go 5-2 or 4-3. They might start the season 2-12 or something with their opening schedule. It is brutal especially since they are a young team learning to play in the NBA and as a team. Hopefully at the end of the schedule the Jazz will be improved and closer to the team people think they will be. So I think they will be more prepared at the end of the year.

Overall the schedule helps the Jazz "tank" without even trying. The Jazz are going to weather the storm at the beginning but I would be surprised if the Jazz won more than 32 games.

going for a mid lotery pick

Just get those 4 wins vs. Gsw..thats it

Jazz win all 4 from GS, but still finish with 25 wins. GS misses the playoffs by 1 game and can point to those Jazz games as what caused them to fail.

Jazz fanz night out:

Monday Dec. 30 vs Charlotte. Big Al vs his prodigy.

Monday March 10th, vs Atl....Return of the Sap.

Or Monday Feb 12th vs Phi. Philly will be playing 3rd road game in 4 nights going into the All Star break. If the Jazz are going to win just one game this season it should be that one.
Just wanted to point out that the Philly game while on the surface should be a win it is the 2nd night of a back to back, as they play the LAL @ LA the night before.
(Also you got the day wrong it isn't Mon Feb 12th it is Wed Feb 12.

Looking at the sched as many have said the start is BRUTAL the few home games all against playoff teams and while that PHX game (2nd game of the year) is the a winnable game it could also just as easily be a loss as that is also PHX 2nd game and both will be at home so it will be like an extended home opener feel. The next most winnable game is @ Boston and while they may be the worst team (depending on Rondo's status) playing back east is never easy and how will the Jazz moral be after this difficult schedule.

Heck road games even against bad teams an be a toss up so worst case if the Jazz don't win against PHX or BOS on the road they could be staring at an 0-17 start until PHX comes to Utah at the end of Dec. I don't think it will happen, I'm sure the Jazz will win a game or two at home against one of those playoff teams, I just hope the Jazz team can stay together and keep fighting and at least fight these teams tough.

Ouch, first 6 games are all part of back to back sets. 6 total back to back games in November. Stay strong Jazz Fanz.

December 4 back to backs.
January 2.
February 2
March 4
April 1.

19 total is fewer than the last time I remember counting a few years ago. Jazz had a couple of seasons of 21-23 or something back to backs.
Wow don't think I've ever seen a start of a season with that many back to backs, first 7 games only game 1 isn't on a back to back and as you said 6 back to backs (12 games) in Nov out of 18 games, so 6 games wont be played as part of a back to back set. Also yes 19 is the least I can remember as well the Jazz are in the 21 or more range. Also noticed in the middle of the season when the schedule lets up they also have more days off between games, funny how that works out.

On a completely useless observation the Jazz have 5 Sun games which they never have many of those, however they also only have 5 Tue games and as expected no Thur games.
