2013 Chicago Combine May 15-19

Actually bike riding hurts your vertical if you are doing it long distances. Same with long distance running. Any kind of long distance cardio lessens your explosiveness.

understood... but it is sure better for you then doing nothing lol... Plus i excerzied everymoring and did sprints and worked my abs. its amazing how much your stomach muscles help your vert.

Scott Howard-Cooper @SHowardCooper Latest draft hit for Shabazz Muhammad: Several execs say they would not be surprised if he falls out of the lottery.

LOL.. I knew this months ago.. He's not quick enough to guard a 2 guard in the NBA, and he's not big enough for a SF... Then there's his attitude... I wouldn't touch him ...

At one local gym I can dunk a tennis ball, I can't at the other gym :(

My theory is the one I can dunk on is correct, and the other is too high though that is probably false.

It might have to do with the springiness of the hardwood. I could only get my fingertips over, but I had to time it right and get a running jump.

I can touch the net at one gym, and can't at the others. The one where I can touch the net has an 8' rim.

while on my mission riding bike really built up my leg strength. it was easyer then. I got back from my mission and got married... i think marriage takes some of your vertical out of ya.. i have to really warm up now before i can dunk it...

It's also core strength--abs, back, + shoulders, and also calves. It's not about planting super hard, but springing upward. I had more of a baseball player physique though, I wasn't real skinny or long.

Good, I hate long distance anything.

one thing I use to do in highschool was I qould do layup drills and box jumps with ankle wieghts on.. never shoot with them on.. it will totally jack up your jump shot.. but doing drills with them on really helps. plus its a little funnier then just sprints.

When I ran cross country one year in high school, it seems like I literally lost my ability to sprint. It is very different muscle training.

I did that in high school a bit until a coach told me it can put a lot of strain on your knees.

I had a partial miniscus tear in my left knee when I was 21, and I never had the same springiness after that. Try to avoid that.

Mike Prada @MikePradaSBN KCP is a way better passer than I expected. Georgia plays a lot of Flex, so something to keep in mind when considering his NBA destination.

Jazzman.

Yeah I said this in the Draft thread. He's a very real possibility for us if Schroeder is somehow out of our reach. His best attribute is standing on the 3pt line and just putting up shots at good % (38% in college). He's athletic enough that you'd think he could improve his defense. He screams Spurs/Jazz type player, and now that Lindsey is at the helm, I think there's a good possibility we pick him at #14. BTW he'll also be the BPA there.

that could explain why my knee hurt every morning now... my coach orginally told me wieght vests were better, but i didnt have the money for that.

Here's a fun fact: the finger motions of shooting and handling are very similar to playing the saxophone. Because I was a serious saxophone player for a while, I always had good hand strength and finger control. It definitely helped with my shooting touch. I think the difference between great shooters and good shooters is in the hands, basically how they balance the ball and its release trajectory. I see a lot of players just flop their wrist and fingers on the release like they're waving at someone. I think ideally the shot release should be more subtle than that and the fingers should point forward and out instead of down. At the least, this makes it easier to shoot off balance and from different stances.

Just thought I'd pass that along.

"IT" supposedly weakens the legs. Just give up sex for a couple of months and you'll be back to dunking no problem.

Muhammed told @slcdunk he was told by Corbin the Jazz were looking for a scorer and who was versatile on the wing.

I wouldn't like getting Bazz. He seems like he'll be a high usage, low efficient player like Al. No wonder Corbin was talking to him.
