Thriller, serious question:
If the Big 12 expands without BYU, what would you like to see BYU do? My guess is playing in the MWC or AAC has got to be better than staying Indy.

Obviously I am not Thriller, but I found the question interesting. If they don't get an invite then it will be a MAJOR blow to their programs. I think there is a belief out there that Cincinnati will get an invite if the BIG 12 does expand. So there's one spot off the table if that's true. So I guess the speculation on that last spot is going to run rampant. Was BYU too big of prima donna last time around to warrant a second consideration? Stay tuned.
FWIW, it wouldn't surprise me if they invited Cincinnati and CSU.
I've also heard that they may look into poaching one of the 14 Big 10 teams or even UCF. For recruiting purposes, would you rather expand your conference footprint into Florida, or Utah? I think BYU is in a very precarious position. They do have a national fan base and better resources than most other schools but they also come with their fair share of headaches.
The Big 12 is literally their last chance for P5 inclusion any time in the near future. Being passed up would be an epic blow.

Agreed. If BYU doesn't get an invite to the BIG 12, I don't see their inclusion into a P5 Conference in the near future at all. This is their chance and they need to be ready to give the BIG 12 every concession they realistically can.
As for the rivalry, how much better would your season be playing a Big XII opponent rather than Fresno or Idaho? Cmon, be honest Utah fans, deep down inside don't you hope the Big XII expands?
I'm going to try not to sound arrogant, but I realize it may still come across that way. However, I'm just being honest when I tell you that it really doesn't make a difference to me whether BYU gets in or not. Whether Utah becomes competitive annually in the PAC, or becomes Wazzu, they're never going to hurt for quality scheduling, big games, and decent out of conference opponents. Yes, BYU going to the Big 12 does solve some issues with playing the rivalry game each year and probably does take it to a new level, but I quite enjoyed this season playing @ Michigan and I'm rather excited for their trip to SLC next year. In short, not playing BYU this year did not make me enjoy the season any less. In fact, skipping all the rhetoric and subsequent excuse making probably allowed me to enjoy the season a little bit more.
I'm not anti BYU to the Big 12, but I just don't care if they get in or not.
jazzman, what do you THINK will happen? Think BYU would keep their TV station (that no one watches except when there's football on)? Think BYU would give it up to join the Big 12? Would it only be for Football or for all sports? If the Big 12 expands and doesn't include BYU, who would they actually invite?
Lastly... You folks play CSU. What's your take on that? You know how MWC teams get fired up to knock out a big conference team. Initially my take was Utah got screwed. But in all actuality, CSU is pretty good. Should be entertaining even though CSU doesn't exactly have a big name.

I think a tcu baylor winner in a conference championship gets in.... automatically. So they play again and both look like ****. You act as if the winner automatically goes to the playoff. I disagree with that notion.
Lol great postPlaying in and winning a conference championship game helps reveal how good a team is, something that Big 12 teams weren't able to do.
Let's say you are judging a "hottest girl alive" contest. There are 6 girls remaining and you have to choose 4 to go into the final round.
4 of the girls waltz in front of the judges in bikinis and they look flawless (play in conference championship game and win). The other two girls stay fully clothed.
"But this is a hottest girl alive contest, not a bikini contest! Just choose the hottest girls! Not the ones who wore bikinis cuz it don't matter!" -LazyD
Seeing the 4 girls in their bikini, in a way you didn't get to see the other 2 girls, revealed just how hot the 4 girls were.
The conference championship is the biggest showcase of the season, the grand finale.
The Big 12 was like, "nah, we'll just skip that. LOL."
That might have worked to their benefit under the BCS where teams were largely just trying to NOT lose games, but as has just been proven, a committee of humans isn't gonna play dat weak ish.
For sureThis is the best chance yet BYU is going to have to get into a P5 conference. A little advice, don't act like a prima donna. Make BYU football relevant again by making the concessions you can make to make it easier for an invite to the BIG 12. That or continue down the road of mediocrity.
I'm saying the committee is made up of humans...... humans with agendas..... biases....... favoritisms....... criteria differing from what you or I think they should have.Okay, so all I'm getting is that the majority of folks feel like picking the four best teams is a secondary goal for the committee? That would be disappointing if true.
Too late. Ya'll already went there iircIf BYU goes back to the MWC, they'll probably go to the Fiesta Bowl before we do.
