2016 Annual JazzFanz All-Time NBA Draft

Thank you very much for this reference Ellis.

I gave my heart to that draft and really cared for who I picked, made my deep research and drafted a team that I wouldn't draft with my limited knowledge (limited compared to the history of basketball), and the Sabonis pick was a major part of that influential experience. But in the end my team was unfortunately looked to old for the voters, hell most of my players were probably unknown to many, so when they saw players they knew that were active after 2000's they just picked them instead of mine. Definitely was a down feeling for me to drop out so quickly, but seeing this here makes me feel like it was worth it because at least one certain fellow basketball adorer like yourself can dig it up to make me relive the moment.

Thank you.
The writeup was fantastic. I had my 1-4 spots filled, but needed a starting center. Tried trading up for Mourning or Mutumbo, but couldn't get it done. Considered trading Dominique Wilkins for Patrick Ewing, but ultimately didn't like the fit and didn't want to try to replace 'Nique.

Needed a starting center that could stretch the floor, pass the ball and play defense. Quickly realized that the only guy who really fit what I was looking for was Arvydas Sabonis. I've been trying to trade up to get him for some time now. Came across your writeup from two years ago and it sealed the deal. Sabonis was a 3rd round pick (#25) in this thing a few years ago. I got my starter, so now I just need to see who falls to me so I can round out my bench with Wallace and Maravich. Your writeup was definitely rep worthy. Thanks for lending it to me.

Check it out man I collided these photos I grabbed from the net back then. It summarizes Sabonis well. I remembered as you repped the original post. It's crazy how much I gave to that draft. Maybe not so much for everyone, but sure was something for me. It also gave me influence to try for more.

If you would like, we can trade Sabonis and Mutombo up front.

Crap man now I remember, I prepared those pick posts on holiday while my wife got pissed at me for jazzfanzing all the time.

I posted those while my wife's sister and his husband were trying to come back in emergency room in their wedding night and we were scared crapless. As soon as they turned out OK and we could leave them home, I kept posting.

Manh!..

Ellis269 - stirring up good memories.

I love Mutumbo, but I'm feeling lucky to have Sabonis and Ben Wallace. Think Arvydas is a good fit with Malone in particular, so I think I'll keep him. One of these days, I'm going to do an all defensive juggernaut. I'll likely get bumped in the first round of voting. . . but I'll have a helluva good time making it.

Was near drafting Sabonis with my Dwight pick. Had him last year at 70's or 80's.deserves to be top 30 pick.

Not going to lie. I was worried I'd end up with Dwight Howard as my starting center. He makes for a great backup. I had him last year (and wish I'd traded him for Rodman when I had the chance), but I don't think he'd make a good starter in this thing.

And I'm out for awhile. Don't have any more picks until the 10th round. WC drove a hard bargain and I knew I was operating on borrowed time with Sabonis. I'm very interested in seeing how my board shakes out. I have a feeling that I know a couple of guys that will still be available when my last 3 picks all come up, but I guess we'll see.

If anyone wants to send me proxy lists, I'll make your pick for you AND do a writeup for your player. Just have to clear out my inbox first.

Eh people forget what a monster he was when he was in his prime. I feel pretty good with my team, I felt I needed someone athletic there and Dwight provides it in tons plus solid rim protection.

Not bashing the pick at all. Like I said, I picked him last year and was prepared to do it again this year. Dwight just has the same problem Kobe does. He's just not well liked by the voters.

Tbh I think sabonis was probably better than mourning and mutumbo anyway from the things people say about him in his prime.

True.
When he was in orlando he was looking like a lock for superstardom and the hall of fame.

He fell about as hard as anyone ever

He was. I literally did not pick him because I knew gr would not make me win this kind of battle here in this forum.

Just preparing myself :)

Idk about that. He didn't fall that hard, he is still an insane rebounder. He just hasn't been the focal point since leaving Orlando.

That he has in common but he is not a winner like Kobe. He is the opposite. He shied away from the obstacles of stardom. Pity that people do not like him too much He actually is a funny guy.

Howard is one of the biggest underachievers and a complete bum imo. I would never want him anywhere near my team, fantasy or real.
