2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Favors is a ****ing awesome player! I have no ****ing idea how people think he's overpaid. This is insanity. He's underutilized more than overpaid. He just has the regrettable fate to be playing on a team with a top 3 center in the league. I posted those numbers before here....

Favors without Gobert on the floor(i.e. Favors at center) is averaging per 36: 19.6pts/13.3rbs/1.7ast/2.1blk/1.3stl on 64% shooting. Do you know how many teams in the league would kill to have a center like this?

But we know his market is limited... we've tried to move him and he was a free agent. Not sure why Dallas didn't pursue him, but teams weren't banging down his door... or he would not be here still.

He likely gets less than he deserves this off season.

Yeah, it would have to be a 3 team deal where you send Rubio somewhere else.

That doesn't really solve the problem that the Jazz don't have enough outgoing salaries. Correct me if I'm wrong (unless you're including a core player like Ex, Jingles, Jae, Korver)

How do you figure? If Jazz signed a $20 mil per they could still potentially have another $20 mil in space.
I guess you are kind of right. If they made no moves and waived/renounced everyone besides O'Neale, they could sign a 20 million a year contract and be left with 16 million.

Well lets do it then...

UTA trades 2 1st round picks, Dante Exum, Derrick Favors, Thabo Sefolosha, Ricky Rubio
UTA gets Mike Conley, Otto Porter

MEM trades Marc Gasol, Mike Conley
MEM gets 2 1st round picks from the Jazz(put whatever protection would make sense), Ian Mahinmi, Derrick Favors, Dante Exum

WAS trades Otto Porter, Ian Mahinmi
WAS gets Marc Gasol, Ricky Rubio, Thabo Sefolosha

I continue to believe that this is a very workable starting poing for a trade.

Wow... that's interesting. Seems really rational for all involved. Hmmmmm.

Yeah, I don't think Memphis says yes to that.

I dont think Washington says yes to it either considering Gasol could easily opt in to his deal.

IMO teams were scared by his injury. Having a second season in a row healthy would have to help. I have no idea why they didn't pursue him either. Maybe teams did pursue him but were not willing to give him more than what we gave him?

12ish actually... capholds for roster spots and a first round pick. Not much different than MLE and we could keep Neto, Udoh's hold, Niang, and operate over the cap.

You are wrong. All it takes to match Conley's salary are Ex, Rubio, and Thabo.

My spreadsheet is saying we'd have about $21 mil in space still.

Cap 109
Rudy -25
Player X -20
Ingles -12
Ex -9.5
Jae -8
Korver -3.5
Mitch -3.5
Allen -2
Royce -1.5
Incomplete roster -2.5 to 3

Dallas and Deandre was weird from the get go... why not throw a toxic offer at Capela before getting the over-rated old guy on a one year deal with no upside... no one had space either so it's just puzzling.

I will never understand the fascination of NBA teams with DeAndre Jordan. IMO Favors at his best is a far superior player.

First round pick caphold is 2.5... I figure we want to keep Korver and didn't factor it into my 12ish statement.

Your spread sheet doesnt account for minimum roster cost and the 1st round pick the Jazz have. And you forgot Tony Bradley

This may be the most rational blockbuster trade idea I have seen yet. Bravo

Watched them last night and though Favs would be awesome there... they had space and paid Jordan more than what Favs got... no team option if he actually played well. He'd fit the timeline better too.

Yeah I did account for incomplete roster charges. 1st round pick would be slightly above, so make it -3.5 mil for incomplete roster charges.
Well I dont know then. I just know my numbers are right. Are you using 108 million as the cap?

At a cap space cost of functionally $4M I keep Korver. If we waived and stretched him it creates like $6M in additional space.

Nah just thought we'd retain Ex
At some point we have to put in something we value in order to get something we like from other teams. I would like to keep him too, but if it gets us Conley/Otto... I would put him in the trade.
