2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

It's extremely hard to put together a Sexton trade and harder to put together a Clarkson trade.

Every team that could use Sexton just needs defense way more (eg, the Lakers) or already has too many small guards.

If the Wolves hadn't traded for Dillingham and it hadn't really worked out, they would be kind of the ideal Sexton team.

It's not hard to put either together. They are both mid-tier contracts that are extremely easy to fit into trades. You have a penchant for saying the dumbest ****.

Like I said earlier, I think it's more realistic to improve the Cavs pick with Sexton/Clarkson than it is to get an entire pick.

SO you might trade Sexton to Orlando for Cole and swap the Nuggets/Cavs pick type of deal.

IDK, there's just not ideal fits anywhere. Maybe Orlando is one, but they already have four ball handlers in Paolo, Franz, Black at times, and Suggs at times.

Ok? The point is their contracts are easy to fit into deals. Not hard at all. Finding a "right" deal for two teams is always a difficult process, which is why only a handful of trades get done.

I know this probably isnt a popular thought at this point. But as I was thinking about the fact, we need top 10 top 20 players to compete for a championship and those players are probably going to be picked up with our pics over the next couple three years. When those pics are actually ready to compete for a title guys like Markannen are going to be aged out. You can’t very well go after guys like that if you continue to build around Markkanen as well. When do we start talking about the inevitable trade of Markannen this summer? And what are we looking to get? Our competition window probably starts around 2029, 2030

Clippers would be a great fit for any of the "vets" on this team but unfortunately they don't have much in terms of assets or trade-able salary. Tucker+Bones are reportedly the salaries they are looking to move. I guess that can get them to Clarkson or maybe Sexton's salary but then it's a matter of which draft asset Ainge can extract. The Clips own a '29 FRP although Philadelphia has a right to swap. Maybe some kind of super swap could work so Jazz get the 3 best and Clips get the worst between that pick, CLE, Min, and Utah's FRP?

FWIW Trent Redden is their GM who came up thru the Cav organization so he should be pretty familiar with both Clarkson and Sexton. Apparently the rumor is the Clips had interest in potentially drafting Sexton in the 2018 draft and they certainly need to get younger. Most of the guys on that roster are over 30 years old. Also, Sexton + Dunn was a pretty nice combo for the Jazz when they went on that win streak last January.

Unfortunately it's a buyer's market with guards (Lavine, Simons, Brogdon, McCollum) and forwards(Cam Johnson, DFS, Grant, Ingram) already available and now we might have other guys such as Fox potentially coming available too. Up and coming teams such as Houston or San Antonio could likely prefer to pay up for someone such as Fox if he actually does hit the market.

According to Sidery and others the guys they want to trade are Bones + Tucker.

They likely aren't dealing Harden, Kawhi, Powell or Zubac.

Mann just signed an extension. Is he even tradable before this deadline?

Batum is old as dirt and signed for an additional year due to a player option he will definitely pick up. KPJ also has a player option (how stupid to give PO's to this tier of player).

I just don't see all the "tradeable" salaries. Maybe I'm missing something though.

Markkanen's season has been really bad this year and he won't get traded next summer unless he turns it around in the rest of the year.

He's gone from +3.6 BPM to +1.0 which is a pretty huge dropoff.

Batum is still very tradable. Jazz would take him and just agree to a buy out

You listed out the tradeable salary for Sexton/Clarkson. Tucker+Hyland. What’s the confusion?

It doesn't matter. Teams who want Lauri aren't trading for him to be their best player

I imagine the trade market will be paralyzed a bit due to the Jimmy Butler stuff.

Any team that has the contracts to trade for Collins will first want to figure out what's happening with Butler.
