2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

But this works the same way when you miss out on a “good fit” player too. A good example is Jaquez on Miami and Podziemski on Golden State. Those guys would have been fantastic on the Jazz and they fell to the 2nd half of the draft. Those are both good fit guys for the Jazz at 10 and 15 and in hindsight would be top 10 picks in a redraft. The Jazz thought BPA was Udoka and it turned out Desmond Bane and Jaden McDaniels (who would have been perfect good fit guys) were passed up.
Do you want good fit guys or stars?

I get it. My biggest issue with him is he has a bit of bully ball in him, and at the college level he looked awkward at times doing it at 6-7 178lb’s. How’s he going to do that at the next level. Yes I know he needs to add weight, but for years and years it would be reported that AK47 put on 15lb’s in the offseason only for him to lose that in the first month every year. Williams is a good 40lb’s lighter than AK was assuming his listed weight is correct and yes AK is two inches taller but 40lb’s is a significant difference. Williams kinda reminds me of Tony Snell a bit.

Watching Williams handle the ball I just don’t get that he has elite handle in any way and don’t think he will do well protecting the ball. I have a difficult time thinking anyone in the top 4 would consider him a top 4 pick compared to what’s out there.
You make some valid points. I think with this entire draft you have to project and you have to trust your ability to develop as a franchise. There aren't any Paolo Banchero's or (Obviously) Victor's in this draft who simply can't miss. I can reasonably say Cody isn't Tony Snell because he can do things with a ball right now that Snell could never dream of doing. But the weight thing is a very valid concern, and while I do think he can handle the ball, I think he's a functional handler currently instead of a dynamic one. But I think he's skilled in a lot of areas, he has length, he's athletic and he has a pedigree. I would bet on my ability to develop the rest

Who is Dray Mottishaw?

Edey destroyed every NCAA center he played against, and so it's not a surprise if he destroyed Ryan Dunn who is 100lbs lighter than him. Also, if he shot 48/100 from 3 in an open gym doesn't seem super impressive to me, even for a center. Am I wrong about that?

Edey's best attribute, in my opinion, is his nastiness. He really embraces the ogre role and I have no doubt he'll abuse mismatches in the NBA. I just have a hard time imagining NBA coaches giving him more than a few post ups per game, which means he really needs to be an amazing roll guy.

It's easy for me to both see a world where Edey is dominant for stretches and where Edey can't get more than spot minutes on an NBA court.

If Edey is getting buckets teams will give him the ball. Utah is perfect fit because we don't have an established offense in place.

It's probably the hard shooting drill Utah does at the end of a workout, not just 100 spots ups

I recall some player (forget who) saying he saw Kessler hitting spot up 3's in the gym and thinking (to paraphrase) "Oh looks like the Jazz have got themselves a stretch big." But yes I imagine this was in the drill you refer to.

I think Grayson Allen hit 84 in said drill.

Edey has much more believable shooting upside than Walker
