2nd Best Player Ever

Obviously, MJ is the consensus best basketball player in history, but who would you say is the second best? There doesn't seem to be a consensus on this, but it seems worth discussing, and I thought I'd get the opinions of Jazzfanz. For the record, when all is said and done, I think Lebron will be the consensus second best ever. But right now, it just doesn't seem clear-cut to me. Thoughts?

Idk...it felt too early to put him in there. By the end of his career he will be a top 2 player, imo, but right now it's just hard to put him up against guys like Magic and Kobe who won 5 rings each.

The guy had "in the gym range", and could make and create any shot he wanted on the floor.
He had MJ and Kobe-esque accuracy, Stockton-like distributing ability, was a Wade-like finisher at the rim, and was the innovator of flashy basketball play.
And he did it way before all of the aforementioned.

I voted Bird. Guy was not even 10% athletic as Kobe, Jordan, Lebron but found a way to be dominant and win rings. That to me is more impressive then just bullying your opponents with physical and athletic advantage.

Wilt. Guy could score at will and was an unbelievable penetrator (if you believe him).




Seriously, as much as I HATE, ABSOLUTELY HATE the Lakers, I have to vote for Magic. No one was as versatile. He could have been a star at any of 4 positions and even played center in a playoff game. I may hate the team and have no respect for him as a person, but the guy was an incredible player.
