Kobe's defense has been over-rated for years. It is EXTREMELY OVER-RATED when you look at what he does now.
Of course there will be. There are already better players and there have been others before. But not in the NBA. Michael Jordan is a product of advertisement revolution in the league. So many will not notice the better players because of the lack of spot lights.
Interesting that Malone is the only player without a vote.
Shouldn't Duncan be in the conversation, if Malone and shaq are.
I still say Kobe though. Just saying.
I was about to type an argument defending Hakeem the Dream... but after looking at the stats I can't make the argument that he is better than Wilt Chamberlain or Kareem. I will just say this, I don't feel comfortable voting for Wilt or Kareem because I never saw Wilt play and I only saw Kareem play in his twilight. Hakeem is the most complete Center I have ever watched play the game of basketball. That's why I voted for him.

Going by stats alone is very misguided. If that was the case, then I would have to put Oscar as the best player ever (averaged a triple double as a rookie). Wilt was a physical freak, but his greatness heavily came from the time he was playing in. He was the only 7 footer at the time, playing in a league without a 3 pointer, and more importantly, NO GOAL-TENDING. For those of you who haven't actually watched Wilt play, he would sit under the basket, wait for one of his teammates to shoot the ball, then while it was on its downward arc, grab it in mid-air, and dunk it. I remember seeing one of his teammates shoot a bank shot, but after it hit the backboard, Wilt just grabbed it and put it in, himself. Hell, if I was playing with a bunch of 5th graders on an 8 foot hoop, without goal-tending, I'd average 50 ppg too.
Having said that, Wilt was one of the most physically gifted players of all time. If he had been born into today's age, I'd say he would be something along the lines of a Dwight Howard; a physically gifted beast, but raw offensively.
Just reads NUMERICA's take on Hakeem and nothing more should be said. Ballet dancers wish they had his footwork. Rex Ryan pops at least five bonners a day thinking about it.
I would like to agree with this, but this is just stupid. Jordan was Jordan because he was the best player to ever play and revolutionize the game. The media needed him more than he did them, but when all was said and done, if you ever watched Jordan, it's common knowledge there will never be another.

not just the footwork. He is the NBA's all time leader in blocks as well. He brought it on both ends of the floor.
All this talk of "the greats" makes me want to have a fantasy basketball draft with the legends. Is this something others would be interested in doing to fight the off season boredom?
Fantasy Draft including every player ever. (I would assume we would draft 5 players.)
Yeah I'm kind of in for this.
Hasn't this been done on Jazzfanz like 8 times??
In.
lol, this is the first one I would be involved in.
So Far I count three people: Me, you, and the other guy. We should invite some Turks to be in the draft. I think it would be funny to see Hedo and Memo go in the first round.
