A Big Move on the Horizon?

I'm sure the FO has been having an open dialogue with him. I would bet they've told him thanks, but that they're "moving in a different direction" and that they'll accommodate his requests as best as possible.

This is spot on. Our front office doesn't want to be like some players who take their time and aren't very up front with their thought processes. I love this honest approach. I wish Diaw was on a smaller contract because I appreciated his contributions this year. I hope he can get one more last contract from some team....

Its been reported that both NYK and Houston want to get a deal done but they need some other teams to get a deal done (basically find someone to take Ryno's salary).

The big problem is that Houston doesn't have its first round pick next year or any good rookie contracts so they don't have much to offer to bad teams who can afford to take him.

Latest I saw had Portland involved in that one.

It is amazing how fast and wildly Jazzfanz swings on Favors. One day it is all about keeping him and the next day it is they better trade him while they still can.

It's amusing.

For me at least this has to do with winning. I am tired of being the also-ran. If moving Favors is part of a bigger plan to make a splash somewhere, then bah felicia, and damnit get some good assets in return!

You're right. I'm sure they have talked to him. It's just odd that he posts on social media this fast. It's usually customary to wait until after an official announcement.

I don't think Favors is serious about re-signing with the Jazz. That's the real issue here. Extension talks got nowhere last year, and Favors' role has been usurped to some degree by Gobert.

Was he even offered an extension last year? I know Hill was offered one. But I don't remember Favors being offered one.

The only guy out there I think would make sense would be Kevin Love. I sure hope the Jazz don't take Ryan Anderson unless a juicy pick is coming back.

I'd take Anderson if it came with a Houston pick and an unprotected NY pick. I'd bet Houston would part with an unprotected pick two years from now if they're delusional LT confident in their trio.

But for me it's Love or bust. Just start Favors.

Talks never got to the point where an extension offer was formally made. That should be pretty revealing.

Jazz were more interested in trying to extend Hill and Favor's was hurt. It makes sense they didn't go anywhere. Neither side had any good motive to last year. Besides he was under contract the next season. This year both sides are more motivated to get an extension done if they both want to. Unless a big trade happens I expect this extension to happen if Favor's is healthy.

There are scenarios where Anderson could go to Detroit and we could end up with Harris maybe.

I agree though Anderson is a great shooter but so limited. If his deal was 3/30 I'd be okay but 3/60 suxxxx.

It just comes down to which teams would want or take Anderson... supposedly SVG likes him, NO likes him, I would have thought Sac would be interested... I can't think of other plausible destinations.

Not getting a pick from NY... maybe Houston would do an unprotected 2020 pick and a pick swap in another year. That would be close to appropriate value if we also get to dump Burks somewhere. I wouldn't love it though.

Favs won't be extended unless we trade Exum or Hood... too much money. I would think those guys are priorities. Favs still thinks he can get 4/100 and we ain't touching that. Which teams are under the cap enough to do a renegotiate and extend for him?

If we could dump Burks and get a pick and two pick swaps, I'd be all over it.

I disagree. Favor's has always valued consistency. He signed for a cheaper deal before he probably will again if both parties are interested so he doesn't have to worry about free agency. We have room to keep all three with Hayward gone.

I don't see a trade happening. Jazz big man rotation now looks like

Ingles/Sefolosha/Johnson
Favors/Johnson/Jerebko
Gobert/Udoh

Seems like minutes might be somewhat limited until you realize how unlikely it is all 6 of those players will be healthy at the same time.

On a different note, I absolutely love what Lindsey is doing. Not sure if it's going to work, but it's a great strategy. While everyone else is out there trying to be more like the Warriors, Lindsey is saying let's be as anti-Warriors as we can. It looks like we're trying to fight fire with water instead of our own, smaller fire.

The cheaper deal before is part of the reason he will look for a bigger return this year imo.

We would be a tax team and favs isn't an ideal fit... I mean maybe but I think we are going to keep two of those three.

I just think Anderson is too limited... love is under rated and his defense is improved. He doesn't look adequate against HS because they are an all star team, but he also doesn't have as much help as we could put around him... he is not Kanter or Boozer. He tries.

I think we'd be pretty damn good if we could steal him. I think we'd be better than last year.

I don't think the Jazz would do a deal based around Tobias Harris. His shooting percentages, rebound numbers and defense just aren't quite there. He has 2-years at $16M per which could be Rodney Hood or Dante Exum money.

I have an irrational love for Tobias Harris... he has Jazz DNA.

If he was small ball 4 he'd be great for us.
