A Big Move on the Horizon?

One thing I have honestly thought... what if JJ scored 20 a game this year for us. If we traded Favs and started him I wouldn't put it past him.

I might start doing hot yoga...

I would be perfectly fine starting JoeJ and playing him 20mpg. 6 in the 1st, 4 in the 2nd, 4 in the 3rd and 6 in the 4th. If we run away with the game, rest him in the 4th. If we need him, play him a bit more. He could range from 16-24 per night.

As for Favors, we should trade him. Best case scenario, he plays better and gives us a deal. Worst case scenario, he plays awesome and we lose him for nothing. Realistic scenario, he plays better and he leaves. We have so much youth that we need continuity. If the plan is to play Favors a while to improve his trade value, we are risking rocking the boat mid-season. We have enough guys to platoon PF and we can't risk losing yet another asset for nothing (Hayward, Diaw, Favors).

Sure it is. I know a few people personally who do hot yoga.

I did Yoga once... I was on a beach in Hawaii and wanted to die... it might be impossible for me.

I'm just not in a hurry to trade him unless we get something good. We don't have salary concerns anymore... if he leaves then he leaves it is okay.

I agree. I don't want to dump him just to dump him. However, there is a team out there who is desperate to make a move. There is always a team out there desperate for a move. As the next few weeks progress, we need to find that team who needs a player like Favors (accomplished, injury questions, but still young) and get an asset back.

I don't think there is always a team desperate to make a move. I think he has been out there since the trade deadline and no takers. When you look around the NBA landscape it's hard to find a deal that makes a ton of sense. Someone would give us a second rounder and cap space or something minor... sure, but I'd rather keep him if that is the return.

My brain still tells me that Quin doesnt like playing Favors/Gobert together and now that they have a legit backup center how does Favors get minutes?

There is no way in hell Udoh came over to just sit on the bench and be a 3rd string center, right? I'd assume he got some assurance he would be Gobert's primary backup and average around 15 mpg. And if that's the case, how is Favors getting anything more than 26-ish minutes per game? Would Favors be OK with that?

Quin would probably have an easier time getting Favors more minutes playing next to Udoh, and that would be easier to do if the Jazz start JJ and bring Favors off the bench.

I honestly think Alec Burks is worth about as much as Boris Diaw at this point, and I think his NBA career is pretty much over. He has been injured for three consecutive years, and every time he comes back he just looks worse and worse. He quickly got demoted to the end of the bench last year he was so bad. As of right now he's a scrub and I don't really see him being the type to bounce back from that.

I like Burks, he is exciting to watch. But he just doesn't feel like he fits this team. Part of that is his play style and part is him just not being healthy enough to play.

For me Burks Island is a nice play to visit for a weekend but I'm not buying any property.
Eh, he is still under contract for the utah jazz for a few more years and has never complained about anything and seems to like the organization.
He can't help the injuries he has had. He always plays hard. Seems like a good teammate.

As long as he is under contract for the utah jazz I will talk about him as if he is part of the team rather than acting like he isn't.

I agree I just don't see a deal outside of the Love deal. I mean maybe like a deal to Phoenix for Dudley and warren and we dump Burks too?

All the teams he fits on just don't have contracts or assets that line up. Like maybe Milwaukee for teletovic and a first? IDK but I agree we have ultra depth now so are free to make a trade... just still a hard fit but NBA teams do weird things sometimes.

IDK if anyone has mentioned this, but Locke talked a bit about this yesterday. He kind of made fun of windhorst and then went on a rant about an article he wrote on how Utah would be stupid to give Haywood a max. Didn't sound to me like he believed much in this rumor.

You didnt think the Tobias Harris trade I did made any sense?

Yeah those deals made sense... basically unless NY moves Melo I don't think there is a great option for a trade. So either Cleveland needs to trade Love or someone needs to decide they like Ryan Anderson. I could absolutely see SVG wanting him back... such a coach/GM move. I also think he hates RJ.

I think we make out like bandits in the deal.

I looked back at it... i like it and it fits with the rumors from sauces.

I assume that Houston has to provide a pick and we may have to sweeten the pot a bit. I think Detroit would get the pick... maybe we throw a second NY's way.

Damn, you think New York needs a pick when they get Jackson and Favors?
