Alec Burks fractured ankle out mininum 6 weeks. Time to jump off a cliff

Time for Rodney Hood to average about 16ppg and solidify himself as someone who should be starting full time.
He already is the full time starter even when everyone is healthy

We may be fine in a sense that we can still make the playoffs if we get Gobert back, but this is a pretty big blow. You cherry picked one stat from one month, but Burks leads the teams in fta on a per minute basis and is just behind Hayward in terms of getting assists (again on a per minute basis). also is a great rebounding guard and was our most consistent player in the clutch... something we have struggled with.

The drop off from Gobert to Withey was steep... the drop off from Burks to Millsap/CJ will be significant.

Millsap is one of the better facilitators, something this no-assist garbage offense desperately needs.

Cy loses all objectivity when it comes to "his" guys.

Has Hayward not been durable? Most games in a season he has missed is 10.

And the only people who get mad at it are the (in NAOS favorite dialect) "omzg teh alic bukks shuld be nomber wun optin!"

Hayward is great. I'm a big fan. And yes, he's been pretty durable. But I think if he went the opposite route, and kept light and lean, you'd be singing him praises for not putting pressure on his knees and focusing on his quickness. ;)

So what does this mean long-term for Alec? Is this plate something permanent? How will it affect his quickness and explosiveness?

No one knows the answer to my question, or don't you care? Guess I can do a Google search.

https://www.iskinstitute.com/kc/ankle/ankle_fractures/t2.html

I scanned this quickly. Says 6-8 weeks after surgery before putting weight on it, then 4 weeks of rehab -- damn, if he has surgery, he'll be out the rest of the season, not what was reported. But then we don't know the details or the seriousness of his injury, so I guess we'll have to wait and see what they say. The report said he would have the surgery done today. Anyone hear otherwise?

Burks is an acrobatic player who often falls down or lands awkwardly. I think he'll always miss several games per season with various ankle and shoulder sprains. And yes, his style of play increases the risk of more serious injuries. Tough for Alec, but Utah needs to eventually replace him with a 3&D type guy.

Also, found this on another site, https://www.physioadvisor.com.au/13082350/fibula-fracture-broken-fibula-physioadvisor.htm:

Patients with a fractured fibula usually make a full recovery with appropriate management (whether surgical or conservative)....In patients with only very minor fractures that are un-displaced (such as an avulsion fracture) return to sport can sometimes occur in as little as 6 weeks as guided by the treating physiotherapist.

Must be of the minor type, based on the report, so this is encouraging.
