Alec Burks fractured ankle out mininum 6 weeks. Time to jump off a cliff

I see no silver lining in the injuries to Exum or Gobert. Those guys are more talented and needed to develop more than Burke and Withey. Burks being injured could be good for Hood but it in no way helps Hayward develop.

Of course they need to develop, but at least them being out speeds up our development in other players. I see your point about Hayward, he is pretty much fully developed.

I do... We have two players who can create from the wing position and one from the pg position. Add in that hood is already nicked up and isn't an iron man and it isn't great. The drop off from burks to Ingles/Millsap/Johnson is steep. I think trey Burke soaks up a good chunk of the missing minutes, but what happens when Hood misses time?

There were guys to be had in free agency that could swing from wing to small ball 4. There were other big upgrades we could have sought... I understood not bringing in a PG because Exum's injury wasn't ideal timing. I just think we have punted too much. Some of the guys that signed contracts this offseason that we could have had would also be good trade assets. We kind of effed up the offseason.

Burks was shooting a blistering 39% in the month of December from the field. As long as we get Gobert back, we are fine.

I wasn't a fan the last couple years and many others that had grown frustrated with his lack of effort and inconsistent play.

Please tell me what Burks needed protection from?!?! Are u that dumb? Did u even see the play?? Or do u just like talking With your ***!!!? The only reason Burks got hurt is because he was out of control and drove the lane with reckless abandon there was nothing malicious about what Pierce did.
Your reckless abandon comment makes it sound like you think Burks deserved to get hurt. When a guy is in the air and gets hit in the head he goes out of control. The only way this doesn't happen is if he doesn't jump. Are you saying that you don't want our players to jump? There might not have been malicious intent in what Pierce did, but the result that it knocks the player in the air out of control was entirely predictable. The way Pierce walked around smiling afterward was not cool at all and the way you are suggesting that Burks is at fault for this is completely lame. I love the way he drives fearlessly to the lane. His value as a player will decrease if he stops doing it. Is that what you want?

Hopefully hood and trey burke get hurt soon too so Hayward can get more shots.

Why is Barnes in this conversation? lol

GS tanked to get Barnes and he turned out to be a starter and significant contributor who shot >40% from 3P on one of the best teams of all time. It was a smart long-term move by the Warriors so it is relevant to the discussion when folks are implying that executing this type of long-term strategy is associated only with losing teams like the Kings and Sixers.

Burks hits the ground way too often to hold up over the long haul. He's going to need to change his game with age.

The official Jazz website mentions in their update on Alec's condition that his 14.4ppg is third highest amongst non-starters.

We may be fine in a sense that we can still make the playoffs if we get Gobert back, but this is a pretty big blow. You cherry picked one stat from one month, but Burks leads the teams in fta on a per minute basis and is just behind Hayward in terms of getting assists (again on a per minute basis). also is a great rebounding guard and was our most consistent player in the clutch... something we have struggled with.

The drop off from Gobert to Withey was steep... the drop off from Burks to Millsap/CJ will be significant.

Nah, Hayward hardly ever hits the floor hard. He built his body with a Karl Malone mindset of being able to absorb contact.

Hayward and Favors will both be durable and age well. Both are built like trucks. I don't worry about Alec as much as Hood. He hits the ground a lot, but knows how to land. The shoulder injury last year was present before he got laid out. This last one was a bit of a freak accident.

Favors missing games like he does for his back gives me some long term pause.

Keep fighting Jazz. Keep fighting.
