All else being equal, who would you rather have running the Jazz: Bledsoe or Burke

Who would you rather have as the Jazz PG of the future?

Not every PG wants to dunk every possession. I remember when Paul and Dwill 1st got into the league they were dunking and stuff, then they realized that dunking was usually just a waste of energy and increased risk of injury.

I'm not saying you need to dunk every possession - but when you're getting into the lane you need to be able to finish. Parker doesn't do it, but he's so quick and with his length & reach he can just lay it up everytime.

Not hating - both are great options for us. It's just that I feel more comfortable with Bledsoe breaking down the defense and finishing strong at the rim.

I have a bro-crush on Marcus Smart, so I'd pick him. But Bledsoe has already established himself in the NBA, and while he might not be what you'd traditionally think of in a PG, he can play.

Plus the thought of him, Burks, and Hayward all creating plays for each other does get me kind of frisky.

He was 4th fiddle at best (and not a PG) at UK, and is... what, 3rd fiddle at best (and has played primarily as a 2) on the Clippers?

I love you man but I am srsly struggling with your posts tonight. What does this nonsense mean.. Or supposed to mean??

Easy answer. We know Bledsoe is an NBA player with potential to be great.

All we know about Burke is he is a great college player.

Don't overrate the unknown.
Very legit point. The most legit point in favor of Bledsoe in regards to this debate.

Bro - then why did you vote for Burke?!?!

Can I vote for both???

I'm as big of a Burke fan as there is but I voted for Bledsoe.

Ideally, get Bledsoe and draft Burke. Start Bledsoe for a few years and let Burke grow on the bench as we all know that will happen.

Realistically, Smart is out of our range.

Lets not go overboard. He isn't the starting point guard for the Clippers because Chris Paul is. And on Kentucky he had Wall in front of him. Bledsoe is a starting point guard in this league. I'd take him over a lot of pg's. And he is just coming into his own. Who he was doesn't define who he is.

The difference between you and most people that happen to understand basketball is that a PG's first job is to get his teammates going. If you can breakdown the D, you'll get an open man. The job from there is to hit the open man, not posterize/get stuffed at the rim.

The poll question says -- "All else being equal..." but the reality is that it's not really equal. Getting Bledsoe lets us draft nice talent at other positions while getting a return for Millsap's expiring contract. So I guess you can never look at these things in a vaccuum.

The voting is close though, and I think it shows we don't really know enough about either player.

Which of Burke and Bledsoe does this?

He's never been asked to be a leader. Now, suddenly, he's supposed to be one? If being a leader was easy, we'd have seen one emerge on the Jazz in the last three years. Besides that, we've never seen Bledsoe shoulder a huge load and grind for a season. Not even a college one. Bledsoe is far from a proven commodity, and if he was OMG FUTRE HALL OF FAME then the Clippers wouldn't be dangling him for KG on life support or a backup for Griffin.

Especially when your projected two best players heading into the future are big men.
