Anyone on here from Idaho?

Places don't suck. People suck. If you don't suck as a person, you can make a place fun.

*Life lessons learned from growing up in Mississippi*

I think there is so some truth to that. I also think a big consideration is just time though. If you have hours to blow, place probably matters a bit more. The one thing I've always wondered though when people are contemplating moving anywhere for job purposes is how much time do they think they have to be "different" from place to place? Because if you have job, your schedule isn't likely to shift that much. You'll still put in your 30-60 hrs/wk or whatever depending on what you do, and often time these so called "desirible" places are more demanding on your work time and/or require a commute. Then say, you work out 3-10 hrs/week or whatever.....that wouldn't change depending on place. Hours spent sleeping wouldn't change. If you enjoy any screen entertainments, the hours you put into that wouldn't likely change. The time you spent with family...probably wouldn't change. Reading...wouldn't change. Most people are probably squabbling over a mere few hours a week where anything would be drastically different in their lives from place to place.

Idaho Falls has a lot of growth on the east side (shopping, housing), which is in my opinion, where I would look for housing. It's also a bit closer to Rexburg.
The drive isn't to bad, it's a spilt highway, basically like a freeway. As stated though, watch for the cops.

I lived in St Anthony, (Northeast of Rexburg) and drove to IF daily. I'm more of a small town rural hick that likes that life, but still want to be close enough to the city for the city life when wanted.

Good points.

Yea that's what I am noticing. Happy to see they have Cafe Rio and a decent downtown in Idaho Falls with some local restaurants. Also its nice to be close to places like Sun Valley and Yellowstone.

Looks like there is no Costco yet :(. But overall its making me feel better about the possible move. The thought of being in Rexburg at first was super depressing.

I am not from Idaho Falls but I did live there for about three years. As was mentioned upthread if you are mormon you will have no trouble fitting in, if not...well it's not so easy. It is a really nice town though, plenty of quality restaurants if you are willing to be adventurous. I highly advise Happy's Chinese Restaurant and The Snakebite. The greenbelt area in the center of town is really beautiful in the summer, and it is probably the one thing I miss the most about living there. Their fourth of July celebration is easily the best I have been to, really fantastic firework display at night. As for the commute I worked with a number of people who lived in Rexburg and worked in IF, and it wasn't a problem for them.

Any place can be great or terrible. It depends on you.

Would you enjoy the job? Do you need the money?

If the answers are yes, then you'll love Idaho. If the answers are no, the. You'll probably start looking for an edit strategy your first day.
