Actually, if you pay attention, Adidas realized that Donovan has the personality to do something like this and not come off like a douchebag. So he wore the hoodie for fun. To tweak Ben and get people talking. And it worked. A lot of people are talking about if redshirt rookies shouldn’t be dinged in rookie awards because of their inherent advantage of having been a professional for a full season.

The fact that there’s a true rookie putting up historic numbers should be worth more in the voting. Ben’s has a great year, but you can make the argument that what Donovan has done is equal or better. The fact that he didn’t get a free NBA season in between makes it more impressive.

And, like he has the entire year, he led his team to a decisive win over a quality opponent. The best part is that his interviews clearly indicate that he did it for fun and that he’s more concerned about team success. . . while ROY is probably going to be the big thing for Ben Simmons this year.

That was the point. It was marketing and branding with a wink/nod at tweaking Simmons AND Nike. In all honesty, I don’t think Simmons has the personality or charisma to pull that off. But he’s a damn good basketball player. That much is indisputable.

I like that Mitchell has the attitude to do something like this without it being a circus.

Also 3rd in the West >>> 3rd in the East.
 
Loved DM responses to Simmons obvious douche-bag remarks. DM used humor and branding to get his message across. No anger and completely professional. Simmons may win the ROY award but he can't match DM's PR smarts.

I don't think Simmons is particularly sharp, no doubt can play ball but like most modern athletes is fairly dull.

Sometimes you don't want it to always be that rough. Additionally in my more hirsute days I slightly resembled a wombat. (mostly in the shoulders)

Here is the new issue I have. Ben was cleared to play with a game left and they chose not to play him. He practiced with the team starting in December and it was revealed in a CT scan that the foot was not completely healed.

Does anyone think they got to midsession and said we ain’t rushing this back for tanking purposes? Do we believe the untrustworthy philly medical staff? Remember all the Embiid stuff from a couple years ago and the Fultz stuff this year?

I wasn’t into the he’s not a rookie argument but if he’s going to be a cocky puke then people are justified in saying “bro you kinda said you had a head start here and are really a red shirt rookie”. I know nba rules say he’s a rookie but did he get paid? Will his years of service be reduced by a year when figuring compensation and retirement? So what year is his first year? Rules are kinda conflicted.

I think they should change the rule starting next year. Avoid this nonsense. Honestly their fans have become insufferable. Reminds me of a couple kids that sat a year out in HS for athletics and then thought they were the **** the next year.
