Best stuff on Netflix

Is Always Sunny has all of the seasons on Netflix. Revisited the last 2 seasons recently and I had forgotten how amazing they were. Cannot wait for this season to start next week.
Yep. Next week 3 of my favorites shows start their new seasons.
Always sunny
Woraholics
and probably my favorite show on tv, Broad City.

Everyone should be watching Broad City

I need to get on Broad City. I just haven't started because generally women are not funny. There are outliers, and hopefully those 2 are. I'll check it out tonight.

I've gotta be honest, I dislike shows/movies that use the F word a lot. Just seems lazy that they can't come up with a different word to use. Same feeling about how most people talk today too.

Overuse can certainly be tedious. A well placed F word is thee best though.

You will love it. I'm certain.
They are hilariously inappropriate

MISOGYNY ALERT!

whoo_siren_medium.gif

I have watched four episodes of Broad City. It is better than ok but not exactly wonderful or blowing my socks off. In that generation of Comedy Central shows, the clear standout is Review in my opinion.

Neither of these shows are on Netflix, but they are on Amazon Prime.

But if you want to expand your library to include Amazon Prime you should really just watch Transparent.

So if I typically don't find women funny, I'm a misogynest? lulz.

@siricky You cannot tell me you dont think Sweet Dee on Its Always Sunny is not funny. And if you do you are a god damn liar.

Strange and confusing sentence.

I think sweet Dee is funny..... though less funny than the male characters on sunny.
I think elaine is quite funny but less than George, Jerry, and kramer.
I thought carla on cheers was funny, diane was not funny though (neither was Rebecca)

Rachel, monica, and pheobe were all a little funny but not nearly as funny as Chandler or Joey (ross was less funny than the women though)

The broad city chicks are way funnier than any chicks on any show I have ever seen

Yes Hantlers, that kind of "men are positive quality X and women aren't" is essentially the definition of misogyny. It's denigration of women on the basis of their gender.

lulz?

First off, I don't believe that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a particularly good show in the first place. My normal method of watching it is to have my wife watch it and then curate the best 2-3 episodes of it per season.

That said, Kaitlin Olson is very funny. Of the core five-person cast on that show, I'd place her third behind Charlie Day and Danny DeVito.

Probably because they act more like the dudes on workaholics than any other show has ever allowed a woman to behave.

There are tons and tons of funny women, but the parts are fewer and father between. Most of the good ones are essentially self-created because that's the only real way to get a fair shake that isn't fundamentally based on sexual appeal. Broad City is a part of that, it's an extension of a web series created by the two women who have connections to Amy Poehler through the UCB theater.

Joan Rivers was great.
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are on a 10+ year run of being very consistently at the top of their craft.
Ellen is virtually a national mainstay and has been for nearly twenty years.
Wanda Sykes is great.
Sarah Silverman has been as gross as the boys for as long as anyone can remember.
Kathy Griffin is obviously entertaining.
Aubrey Plaza, Gillian Jacobs, and (especially) Alison Brie proved they were great for over half a decade on NBC.

There's a whole slew of lesser talents that are not my favorite but have their fans. There's a reason that Lisa Lampanelli is a mainstay at every roast and Janine Garafelo had steady work for 20+ years. I'm also sure that there's a reason Chelsea Handler and Whitney Cummings are popular, but I'm not in the target demo.

There's a whole group of young female comedians coming up as well. The Broad City girls are among them, but so are Shelby Fero, Amy Shumer, and Tig Notaro.

This list isn't even close to exhaustive. This is just what I can come up with sitting here at my desk. Saying women aren't funny and acting like it's just an objective fact just displays the speaker's own biases.

Interesting, I'd go Devito, Mac, Charlie, Dee, Dennis ...... All are very funny though.

Wait, is someone saying women are not funny?
I thought I made it clear in my post that I thought the broad city women are hilarious and that I think sweet Dee, elaine, carla, the friends women, etc are all funny.
Amy poeler and tina fey are good ones too (I also like the brunette girl on parks and rec that is always dark and angry)

Ellen is one of the best stand up comics out there and is naturally funny even without a script or an act. She is one of the funniest people on earth.

It's also funny that you quoted my post and then finished your comments with the part of your post that I quoted above as if I said women are not funny or something.
Maybe you have some serious issues and I hope you get the help you need

It was an extension of my comments regarding what Hantlers and Beer said. I'm not attacking you personally.

I quoted you because I wanted to make a specific point about why you probably think the Broad City girls are the best.

I generally find female comic roles to be lacking. Whether thats the writers fault or the actresses or the producers or whomevers fault doesn't matter to me. It just matters that I don't think they are funny. Obviously Tina Fey, Ellen, Poehler, Julia Louis Dryfus are great, but as a whole I'm generally disinterested when a woman is trying to be funny. Chelsea Handler and Whitney Cummings are absolutely not funny. I will say that female comedy roles are on the up and up, (the girl in workaholics, Peretti in Brooklyn 99 are good examples) but is still not to a point where I would consider women to be as funny as men.

You can be dense sometimes Kicky.

I never said all women aren't funny. I merely said I typically don't find women comedians funny because they're discussing topics I don't relate to. Same reason I don't enjoy a lot of female authors. Obviously there are some I like, but for the most part I can't relate to the main character and can't get into it. Apparently this means I hate women.

Nowhere did I say I didn't like them because of talent, or anything like that, it's merely a personal preference. So go ahead and shut your condescending mouth before accusing me of being a misogynst you pinheaded prick.
