What's new

Biden Supreme Court Nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson

Somewhat foggy because it’s been a few years, but I believe the argument was that the schools belief system was some type of proof and/or evidence that ACB would overturn Roe v Wade, be biased, too religious, and the like
1. It's been 1 year. 16 months, to be pretty close to precise. She was confirmed on 10/31/20.

I know. If I hadn't remembered that it was immediately before the election, I wouldn't have caught it either.
You must be confused... You can't confirm a supreme court nominee within a year of a presidential election. You have to wait and see the outcome of the election first.

This is well established tradition in the United States.

It started when Reagan nominated Bork (who was truly off the deep end in judicial philosophy), and has been continuing since.
I don’t recall Roberts, Alito, or Gorsuch getting smashed. I understand Gorsuch was controversial because he wouldn’t have been nominated had mcconell not stolen the seat in the first place.

Kagan and sotomayor went through a gantlet. Was it warranted?

I do remember Bork, Thomas, Kavanaugh, and Coney Barrett going through a gantlet. But it’s hard not to when you’re credibly accused of sexual harassment, you’re a recognized political hack, and/or you’re ridiculously inexperienced. Two of those are arguably the most unfit justices we’ve ever seen. Kavanaugh is one bad man. But I guess paying your dues as a Republican hatchet man for 3 decades has its awards.

I read that as Bjork at first, and got very confused...
Yes, he gave his rulings in very discordant and brash tones. Great entertainment in the court.

By all accounts I've seen she is highly regarded and highly qualified.

Thoughts?

Well, now we know. Ketanji Brown Jackson is painfully dim. For proof of KBJ's astonishingly lack of intellect, look at her most recent dissent in the affirmative action case where she wrote "For high-risk Black newborns, having a Black physician more than doubles the likelihood that the baby will live, and not die"

Apparently KBJ believes that over 50% of Black newborns die because if more than 50% of Black newborns live then it is impossible for the rate to double. KBJ was parroting brain-dead talking points without the slightest hint of critical thought. The racial-identitarian left should be very happy with KBJ as there is no chance she'll look beyond skin color to spew her decisions even if it means making arguments as dumb as the one she just made in this case.

Which an honest person would interpret as the obviously intended (and true) fact that results from reversing the words "die" and "live", and changing "black" to "non-black". Then, there was your interpretation.

... even if it means making arguments as dumb as the one she just made in this case.
Jackson stated the truth with imprecision. You are more worried about that poor wording than you seem to be about the increase in black infant mortality when black OB-GYNs are not available. Then again, your kids aren't black.

I would say that history has proven this argument correct.

It will be interesting, and sad, to see the attempts at slander and libel that will inevitably be used to discredit her.

And so it begins. In jazzfanz at least.

#1 - Even your twisting isn't true. In the words of Stephen Colbert, it has truthiness but in reality it is only something racists repeat because they want it to be true. The color of someone's skin does not make them a good or bad doctor.

#2 - Careful attention to detail is the job description of the SCOTUS justices. KBJ is a racist and she's stupid. She is exactly who lefties want in that seat.

Accusing African Americans of being racist and stupid when giving voice to the very real challenges of living as a minority in America has a long history among white supremacists. Are we sure we want to go down that path?

The ultra-right wants to gaslight us all into believing first that they are color blind and second that we live in a post-racism world where there would be no such thing as racism if it wasn't for liberals injecting it into the discussion where it otherwise wouldn't have existed.

No lingering effects from slavery, systemic and often legally formalized discrimination, segregation, etc.. They want to ignore the centuries of disparagement of black people, their character, their intelligence, their civility. Many who never sought to be racist have been influenced by this cultural reality and they often do not realize it.

KBJ is a single person. Regardless of the color of KBJ's skin, KBJ is not "African Americans". She may be an African American but she is not an entire group of people. It is really gross to take the actions of a single individual and paint those across an entire group of people based on skin color. Intelligent people can be of African, Asian, Latin, or European ancestry, and so can dumb people. Racist people can be of African, Asian, Latin, or European ancestry, and so can egalitarian people. Skin color is nothing more than a pigment. That you look at KBJ and see her as an ethnic group speaks volumes. KBJ has shown herself to be a stupid and racist person. KBJ represents KBJ.

I see, and that is why you believe you can tell how good a doctor is by looking at the color of their skin. Or believing that it is okay that KBJ can't do 4th grade math. You believe the lingering effects of slavery has encoded math and doctoring into skin color. That is quite the world view you've got there.
