All of his issues are his fault. He lost Deron, yes. BUT, he was given TWO top 3 picks. He didn't develop them at all. He was given a runaway sixth man of the year (Millsap)...he didn't put him in a position to be successful. He was given a #9 pick, who was very, very efficient...He couldn't get him to work with Jefferson. He was given a player that is balls out great at the end of games (Al)...He couldn't figure out a way to get the whole team involved in the offense. He had Devon Harris...couldn't make it work. He was given Mo...couldn't make it work. He was given vets that would be gone the next year, so he didn't have to worry about pissing them off (see Raja Bell)...he didn't challenge them. What exactly did Ty do, other than get more talented teams yet regress every year?
The Jazz were a borderline playoff team two years ago. Then they upgraded the roster, but their record got worse. When the Jazz were healthy again after the All-Star break, they went on a huge losing streak. The Jazz starters routinely dug themselves into big holes, the bench bailed them out, but he couldn't fix that either.
I thought Ty was going to get a chance to prove himself by making Deron happy...didn't happen. The he had a chance to prove himself with a new, running pg and high draft picks...didn't happen. Then he had a full year, and Kanter was a beast and Favors was going awesome and Mo was the pg the Jazz let get away...didn't happen. There is not one good reason why he is still coach---I take that back. There is one. The Jazz want to suck and don't want to pay another coach to suck and pay Ty. It is a cheap thing. That is the ONLY reason why he is still coach.
