You know guys, I'm thinking Biyombo at 3 is not such a bad idea, especially if he is really only 18 years of age. Why not draft him. His rebounding, and shot Blocking ability is pretty certain to translate to the NBA. the guy has a 7'7 wingspan! How would it be to have Favors and Biyombo on the Floor at the same time! That would be Legit! just add Chris Singleton to that lineup and we would be pretty solid on the defensive end of the floor. Defense wins Championships... right?

Why not? Because he'd probably be there somewhere between 5-8. So trade down, get future pick or cash or something, draft Biyombo with #5-8 and save a few million in salary over the next few years as well.

Biyombo might be there at 12, I'd rather miss him at 12, than reach for him at 3. Givony is overhyping biyombo because he was the first "expert" on his trail. Biyombo is a huge project, he will struggle to adjust to the NBA game where he'll play against guys every nightbwho are just as athletic, and just as strong as he is.

Defense helps win championships but you still have to have guys who can create shots and score. As good as a lineup with Biyombo, Favors, and Singleton might be, they would struggle to score. Right now, none of those guys are capable of creating their own shot.

Because it's the equivalent of Dave Kingman swinging for the fence. If it connects, that baby's a monster home run. But more likely, it's a whiff.

Far too risky. Biyombo has project written all over him. Not what you want with the #3, in my opinion.

This. Trade down. And pass on Singleton.

I understand this, but don't agree. Jazz have the #3 pick and a chance to pick up a major cog in its core. This opportunity has come, what, twice in the last 20 years or so? Why the hell trade down to pick up a one-dimensional project? I don't get it. Biyombo is not THAT good.

David Thorpe today has him compared to Joel Anthony. Now i think that probably under sells him some, but no way at the 3 and then take Singleton. We do need some offense you know.

I would not be upset at all if the Jazz drafted Biyombo at 12, but if they take him at #3, pitchforks and torches!

A couple random thoughts.

The earliest I'd take Biyombo is at #5 if we were to somehow swap.

If all this talk about every player other than Derrick Williams doesn't motivate Derrick Williams, well then, he's a bitch.

Not all drafts are created equal. Not sure if you're just tuning in, but the prospects available are a huge spazz (Valanciunas); a young chucker with a great body and a good understanding of the game (Knight); a national champion that is TINY and subsequently can't finish, isn't that fast or athletic, isn't a good shooter, isn't great at creating for others, and shoots first but has intangibles (Walker); A taller version of AK that is worse at shooting, ballhandling, passing, rebounding and doesn't have a real position (Vesely); and finally, either a coward or a moron from Turkey that nobody knows anything about besides his physical attributes and that he was once a very good prospect (Kanter).

Looking at the options, drafting a player with little in the way of offensive skill but EASILY the most impressive physical profile in this draft and an absolute defensive monster doesn't sound bad to me. Unless you believe every honky that comes along and says every guy from africa was born in the dirt and there's no record of anyone's birth.

I hate the idea of drafting him at #3, but no one else projected to be there excites me more. Knight could be a really nice player, Kanter might be Zach Randolph or rich-man's Rafa, Valanciunas MIGHT be really nice in three years. I don't like Walker or Vesely at all. Kanter and Valanciunas might bust. Knight is the only clear player there IMO, and he doesn't move the meter for me very much.

And for the record, Singleton at #12 is a massive reach. There are about 3+ perimeter-stoppers to come out every year that are available in the late 20's and 2nd round. I'd rather find a way to get a late 1st/early 2nd and draft Jimmy Butler (since he can actually do something besides defend).

I get what you're saying and agree for the most part. I'm personally on my knees each night pleading with the invisible white bearded dude that somehow Williams falls to #3. Outside of Williams, though, nobody blows my hair back, but I am 98.3% certain I don't want a one-dimensional project with our first pick, even in this draft.

Ford's mock has him at 14. #3 is a ridiculous reach for one of the rawest big man ever.

And DX lists him as the 3rd best prospect in the draft. Everyone has their guys and their biases, but if I have to choose between evaluators, I lean much more heavily on the guy that is one of the first on the scene of anyone we know than the guy that glues his underwear to himself every time he sees a kid dominate a bunch of cones. You know, when he's not acting as the loud-speaker for every rumor that an agent or FO person wants to start.

Trade down. Get Knight and Biyombo somehow.

If Biyombo is indeed only 18-19 years old I think he could go as high as #4 to Cleveland who needs a defensive presence in the front court. High Risk- High Reward. With Cleveland already taking a franchise PG at #1 they could be willing to take that risk at #4 and in the long-term grab potentially the only two all stars in the draft.

I voted yes, but right now I'd take Kanter. We've seen nothing making Bismack overtake Kanter.

I would highly consider taking Bismack over almost everyone else though. If in private workouts he comes out ahead you go with him.
If KOC believes he can rebound, and defend at a high level in the NBA, pull the trigger.
