Try reading the thread before you make retarded statements. I've never said I'm in favor of either guy. Every comment I've made has pointed out a flaw in an argument stated FOR BOTH SIDES. I personally think what went down is somewhere in the middle of what we've heard.

If they have this on tape, now that the FBI has become involved, Zimmerman could easily be charged with a hate crime.

It looks like Zimmerman followed him, chased him down, cornered him, and then killed him.
Can you really claim self defense after that?
I can't imagine anyone buying a self defense argument (against an unarmed kid who weighs 100 pounds less) from the guy who admits to starting the fight.

Unfortunately, it appears that in Florida, the law gives a lot of leeway for someone to get away with murder using a self-defense argument and reasonable doubt.
Even if he is not convicted of murder, that does not make what he did morally right. His immoral actions led to the death of someone who did not deserve to die. The known facts establish this IMO. regardless of the details of his alleged self-defense.
What would you do as a 17 year old after a psychopath chased you down? I would fear for my life and respond appropriately. The child had every right to beat the adult guys *** in self defense. What was he supposed to do? Push Zimmerman to the ground then wag his middle finger and say "now you leave me alone, mister"? Hell no. You hit the ****er in the head with a rock or whatever it takes to secure your escape from the attacker.
Anyone spouting off self defense should be using it to protect all our innocent children who get harassed by potential murders acting like crazed lunatics. What are you going to do when your daughter is chased by a rapist on a city trail? Tell her to not fight back or preemptively kick the guy in the nuts like you're telling Treyvon to not respond?
*Edit* For the record, I appreciate the approach Scat is taking to not preemptively blaming Zimmerman. However, I see enough evidence to say Zimmerman acted as the aggressor which is not consistent with claiming self defense.
He probably thought he was about to get raped (That is what I think if I think anyone is following me at night).

I don't think Zimmerman was out for blood, but his missteps were terrible, and led to the completely unnecessary death of a 140 pound kid.
Zimmerman was older, much larger, and had training on how to handle the situation. He acted negligently at best. Letting him go would send a terrible message: If you pick a fight, and let the other guy get a few blows in, you're justified in shooting to kill. Zimmerman should be facing some charges, and I think his actions warrant hard time.
The police have handled this situation terribly. Witnesses who have told police that they heard Martin cry out for help have been "corrected" by police. Why? Why weren't homicide detectives sent to the scene (narcotics detectives were sent instead)? Why wasn't Zimmerman's car searched? Why wasn't Zimmerman tested for alcohol or drugs? Why have relevant phone calls, including several 911 calls, been suppressed?
While there'd be some amount of anger over the racial underpinnings of this story even if it were a simple case of self-defense, the unanswered questions, criminal past, racist remarks and aggressive, erratic behavior of Zimmerman, as well as the police mishandling of the case, make all the hate being spouted by the media and various civil rights groups justified in my mind.
Just a terribly mishandled, tragic case.
