Bold Trade Idea

And be objective for a second - you do realize that playoff basketball is a different animal than season ball right? Every measure of a man is tested in the playoffs. Millsap has shown his merit whereas Favors has never shown me the fight winners have. He's a talent but not an X factor.

You weren't here when this happened, but earlier some dude was using this same argument for why the Jazz should get rid of Hayward and max Harrison Barnes.

I'd quote them here, but he ended up deleting those posts out of shame.

Millsap goes toe to toe with LeBron James and holds his own. He can do anything on a basketball court.

Favors goes toe to toe with the training staff over his back.

Uhhhhhhh... huh?
Sadly forgotten facts about why the jazz didn't resign him and didn't want him back.

Korver purposely stopped shooting open 3s to preserve his 3pt percentage record his last year with the jazz. He admitted to it and it was obvious. We lost multiple games that cost us a higher seed. We could have got the third seed but got the 5th seed. We lost close games where Korver had multiple open shots towards the end of games he passed up to preserve his record that we lost by narrow margins. They were wide open shots that he passed to guarded players.

Remember when Millsap quit playing defense for an entire season for the jazz?

Even though Favor's numbers are good and his defense is good he rarely puts the team on his shoulders and never does in the clutch. If we are going to win in the playoffs we need guys with a killer instinct. Rudy has that. Hayward has that. Burks has that. ****ing Burke has that. Booker has it. Hood has it.

Favors has no killer instinct. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

How many times last season did Derrick get mauled and the refs swallowed their whistle? You know why? Because he is a wallflower.

I'll amend the trade.

Favors and Burke for Millsap and Korver.

If we would give up #12 for 30 year old Hill, we would give up Favors for a 2 time All Star Millsap and great guy to stretch the floor Korver.

Didn't realize 0-8 counted as "holding your own" nowadays.
In their matchup. C'mon man. Its still a team game. Hell, Millsap goes out past the 3 to get on him. Atlanta just never had the roster. Not enough depth and good wing play.

Are you serious? Against the Pacers last year he brought us back down 7 with like a min left. Then on the road against whiteside he dominated and played like a mad man on the road. And before he got hurt he out played cousins and millsap on the road. And to the op. When favs was a rookie he played better than millsap off the bench against Duncan in the playoffs. He was one of our best players in that playoff series.

No killer instinct? Did you not watch the Jazz vs Hawks highlights video I supplied? I'll link it again.

https://youtu.be/-rCP1JEljX4

Millsap missed an open game winner while Favors hit a CLUTCH 2 deep jumpers in the final two minutes that essentially gave us the win

Skip to 2:46 to watch Favors go ape**** clutch

Debunking time.

Per https://stats.nba.com/, here was the per-game scoring by Millsap and Favors in crunch time (games within 5, under 5 minutes left):

Favors: 30 games, 4.2 minutes per game, 2.1 points on 58.0 TS%
Millsap: 41 games, 3.8 minutes per game, 1.9 points on a horrible 46.1 TS%

The kid is good, but we're talking about season games and we're talking about a 6 year pro who hasn't taken us anywhere. Millsap was the best player on the best Eastern Conference team last year.

Yeah Kawhi Leonard and Tim Duncan sure lack that killer instinct.

It's a win now trade. Thats the point. We try to win now because Millsap is better than Favors and Korver is miles better than Burke and even Ingles. We would be a better team.

We just traded #12 for a PG who is 30 and everybody is doing backflips. We trade a pick in the 27-30 range for one of the best shooters in the league and people get offended?

Do you guys realize free agents (and only average ones) come here for one of two things - tons of money or tons of playing time. We shouldn't provide #1 and we can't give anyone #2.

What exactly are we winning if we do this trade? Favors and Millsap were very similar statistically last season. And while Korver can provide three point shooting off the bench he's not going to vault our win total by any significant margin.

Paul Millsap was once a 6 year pro who hadn't taken us anywhere...
