Breaking News! Enes Kanter won't join the national team this summer

This. If I was Enes, I'd much rather go play in the Ymca pickup games than have to go through what he did last year... man talk about a team full o chuckers.

Yeah of course, of course, we get it, EuroBall softy, chuckers, chukery, and all. God Bless America.

That's interesting that he'll be looked at as a traitor. To me to be a traitor you need to help another country's team, not just hurt your own team. Although I guess by not playing with the Turkish national team he is helping other countries' teams. Okay, I can accept that he's a traitor.

No not that at all. A lot of us watched the Euro games last summer. The Turkey team had good players, but there just wasn't much emphasis on working the ball into the inside players. Asik basically got his points of rebounds. Same with Enes.
I would say that the coach was probably to blame for a lot of what was going on on the court. That is why I say, I wouldn't blame Enes for not wanting to play.

I think the way of his rejection is the main reason of the reaction. Hedo/Ersan/Aşık/Tunçeri/Onan also won't join to the NT this Summer but they asked for it way before and they gave solid reasons.

OK sorry to jumping on that immediately. But Enes needs EXPERIENCE, I can't believe he's rejecting it. Wouldn't it be good to play 18-20 games for him before the NBA season get started?

And for info, the coach has changed and Tanjevic is known for his support for the young players. He should have used this game-experience chance.

Explain the whole Turkish thing to me, one of you Turkeys. What makes one a Turkish national and have the 'responsibility' to play for the Turkish team? I only ask because Enes was born in Switzerland, played ball in Turkey only a few years, and was really harmed by Fenerbahce in his desire to play college ball in America.

Just curious the politics..

The way I see it, ( as a fenerbahce fan) he betrayed the team that invested in him for several years and let him play in a Euroleague game at the age of 16. In my view, if he did not lose couple of years in US and had played in Euroleague, he would have been much better player at the moment. Of course the contrary might be true : everyone would have seen the flaws in his game and he might have not been drafted at 3.

As a young player, we expect him to have pride in playing for National team.

100%

Obviously Kanter felt like it was time to pick a side and the USA won...as usual.

Time to dominate the Summer Olympics...again.

So anyone give me a clue about the schedule of the Jazz until the season starts? What will Enes have now to improve his game?

Bad move by kanter..... He should have played. I wonder what his reason is for not playing?

Wasn't Kanter in Turkey not too long ago visitng his family? Maybe the Turkish team got mad he wasn't practicing and gaining 20 pounds.

Either way I'm kind of disappointed by Kanter this summer. He started off on a high note by going to P3, but then kind of reversed that by gaining 20 pounds in 2 weeks with no basketball practice and having a sub-par SL. I understand athletes are humans and need time off with the family, but don't put on 20 lbs, show some discipline and maintain your shape. This would be the icing on the cake of a bad off-season if he doesn't join the team. If he doesn't, I hope he is in P3 working out constantly.

Very strange if all this is true. He was a total workhorse at UK. Never left the gym (bb court and weights). I'll just say I'm not totally buying all this.
