Breaking News! Enes Kanter won't join the national team this summer

i know some turks and their pride... if he has no real reason to not participate, he will be seen as a traitor in his home country and will never ever be able to play for his national team again...

in order for him to learn the game and get better and get some more game experience, it would be very important for him to participate and play for his national team, imo.

According to the article, he promised national team executives to join the team after the summer league. However, no one could reach him for several days. Finally his agent called the team manager to inform him that Enes will not join. It is also mentioned that Jazz management is notagainst his participation in the national team.
What an atitude...

sounds terrible if true...

If he is in Utah, working on his game, I don't mind at all. He might have higher aspirations than just being on National team.

Most of the Turkish NBA players will not be with the team this summer. This would give Enes more chance to be on the court and become a focal point of the offense. He has been working on his game at the gym for several years. It is time for him to have some real game experience.

He will sadly become Turkish version of Dwight Howard or LeBron James, in terms of public image.

Sources of the news are reliable but the sources are not reliable, I mean our NT always have intrigues and all. At any moment someone can show up and controvert everything and everything can change. So it's pending for me for now.

On the other hand if Enes really doesn't come to the NT because of a non-valid reason, he'll be officially done for me. Then I'll be a only Jazz fan here. And I will shut down my Kanter Supporters group.

Explain the whole Turkish thing to me, one of you Turkeys. What makes one a Turkish national and have the 'responsibility' to play for the Turkish team? I only ask because Enes was born in Switzerland, played ball in Turkey only a few years, and was really harmed by Fenerbahce in his desire to play college ball in America.

Just curious the politics..

He has nothing to do with Switzerland except he was born in Zurich. His family is from Van which is my city too.

The bad decisions of his career is not only Fenerbahce's fault, he made all the stupid mistakes that he can so far for his career. Maybe it's his agent or his family etc I can't know that but he could have had a much better career path than he actually had, I believe in that way.

About being Turkish and responsibility, ahem I can't explain it really you have to be one of us to know:)

35 year Kerem Gönlüm canceled his holiday with his family now and took the road to join instead of Enes. It's that kind of attitude a Turkish would expect from Kanter.

Too lazy to run a translator on this article, but the use of the exclamation point in the headline tells me this is serious business in turkey.

I'm curious as well. He probably wants to stay away from that chuck fest we saw last summer.

This. If I was Enes, I'd much rather go play in the Ymca pickup games than have to go through what he did last year... man talk about a team full o chuckers.
