*Breaking News* Kawhi Wants Out

I'm not saying BOS don't have plenty to offer, I'm just saying if I were Buford and the Spurs I would try my hardest to pry Tatum away - to me that's the main prize.

I'd be interested to see what they ended up getting.

And I agree they would try to pry Tatum away.
If they could then they would trade with the Celtics. And if they couldn’t pry Tatum away they would take the next best offer and trade with the Celtics. I just can’t see why the spurs would want to trade kahwi to a western conference team and get worse assets. That doesn’t seem smart to me.

Indiana traded Paul George for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis.

San Antonio doesn’t have any of the leverage here with teams because Kawhi isn’t going to sign an extension with any team besides the Lakers.

Kyrie had the Spurs as one of his top-4 destinations when he asked for a trade. Boston could easily offer Kyrie and Brown for Kawhi and I think that would get the deal done.

Hayward and the 2019 Kings pick would get it done too. The Lakers really don’t have a ton of great assets that the Spurs would want. You think they want Lonzo? So the offer is what? Kuzma and Ingram plus picks? Boston can easily beat that. Plus you keep him out of the West and keep a super team away from the Lakers.

The Lakers have enough to get him if you look at it on its own. The Spurs dont have leverage. Lonzo, Ingram, or Kuzma are all pretty nice pieces to put in a trade.

Hayward is not tradeable at this time. I don't think anyone is going to take on that contract with the recent injury until he proves he is healthy for another season.

Why would they want Lonzo and all the baggage he comes with?

Boston can beat a Kuzma and Ingram offer. San Antonio isn’t going to keep him in the West either I don’t think.

Ball isn't a total scrub though, I'm sure by being traded Lonzo will shape up ala D'Angelo Russell when he went to the Nets.

Also the Spurs can flip him on if they needed to. He's just another asset.

Ball has potential but his dad comes with him.

This thread has all the best and worst of Jazzfanz in it.

Props to Fish for owning this though and speaking the truth and sanity.

I never said the Spurs are gonna trade Kawhi to a western conference team. When did I ever say that?

I said they'll try to play the offers off of between the Lakers and the Celtics to extract the best value.

Big problem with trading Hayseed plus others for Leonard is the salaries don’t work. Unless SA is willing to throw other players in to match salary. I’d have to think SA would have to want Hayseed pretty badly to do that, and I don’t see it when Boston has so much more to offer. Plus the unknown with Hayseed coming back from injury.

But the Kyrie/Leonard trade is perfect as they make the same salary. Kyrie did list SA as one of his preferred teams, but if Leonard isn’t there does that change his mind?

Would any of you trade Tatum for Leonard? I mean Leonard is the best player, and you don't really need to give up any of the rest of your assets other than cap filler.

Kyrie, Brown, Leonard, Hayward, and Horford plus some strong bench pieces gives you a cakewalk into the finals, even if Lebron stays in the East. You get to keep your picks to deal for a superior bench as well.

Exactly.

If Ainge is pragmatic, and I think he is, he would do that deal is a heart beat. Kyrie, Brown, Hayward, Leonard and Horford gives you perennial NBA Finals for the next half a decade. You've got shooting. You've got length. You've got size. You've got defense. And all 5 can shoot 3's at an elite level for crying out loud!!!!!!

If that doesn't make you excited I don't know what will.

And if Tatum is the price for that ticket to the Finals - you do it.

Provided Leonard is healthy. . .
