Which part of Fess being an idiot for leaving 3 mil on the table did you have difficulties understanding?
Fes looked great at the scrimmage, he's in much better shape. But he missed just about every dunk he attempted, both in the scrimmage and warm ups.

If the second year would have been guaranteed you would have been right. It WASN'T! Houston and/or Utah assuming they matched would have been able to cut Fes all the way up to January 2012 in which case Fes would be without a job and with all of the teams most likely with rosters that wouldn't require his services. Yeah that's great isn't it? How bout the fact that if he is under contract he can't play in Europe next year when there is by all accounts most likely a lockout. Hmmmm. Dude you are a moron. That's what boxscore readers--even boxscore statisticians--tend to do.
Fesenko wasn't outstanding in the playoffs, but the Lakers didn't outscore the Jazz when he was on the court, and the Laker big men didn't pwn the Jazz much inside with Fes in there.
Fes came into the playoffs with the equivalent of Ostertag's rookie playing time, so he was essentially a rookie with no playoff experience. The thinking of the likes of Hollinger is what kept Fes's price down. Good for Utah.
