Brian Shaw a viable candidate for next Head Coach?

1. He played under Sloan for a big chunk of his career. And he never coached a basketball team. You're basically saying that his exposure to Sloan and Corbin was not total, so that will magically make him an independent and capable coach. I don't think so.
2. Again, I don't want ANYBODY. I want a ****ing coach. Is that too much to ask?
3. LOL. And Ty is a computer engineer with experience working at IBM. I'll take that as a better evidence for intelligence than looking a bit less clueless in 20 second interviews.

I cannot believe this "Hornacek might make a good coach" suddenly became popular on the forums. I hadn't heard it before last week. I am inclined to find out who was the first to mention it so that I can neg rep the **** out of them.

I don't know why you're so worked up over this. I don't see anyone saying Hornacek is the head coach of the future.

Well, are you saying there's no chance that he might make a head coach? It's not wrong to think that he MIGHT.

EDIT: Also, Hornacek has to be taking notes of all of Corbin's mistakes. That has to count for something.

There's a small chance he becomes head coach. I doubt the Jazz are foolish enough to make the same painful mistake twice in a row. Alas, stranger things have happened.

But I pray to the gods they don't! In fact, I'd rather they keep Corbin than replace him with Hornacek. The more coaches they cycle thru, the less reputable an organization they become. If you're replacing Corbin (and you should), you better find the best possible candidate available. Not just another buddy of yours.

well maybe the refs will think he still is with the Lakers and give the Jazz some homer calls like the Lakers get.

I really think we'd keep the job in-house. If Corbin is axed, I bet Jeff Hornacek would be first in line. Personally I would love that move.

I'd be in favor of the Jazz making Hornacek the head coach if they think he's right person after a thorough search.

That's from this thread. There are at least a dozen other similar sentiments in the past few days.

This isn't a video game. You can't just try different coaches under different saved games.

And I think I explained pretty well why I'm "worked up about it". It's a terrible idea.

Well at least my post you quoted included the key phrase "AFTER a thorough search". I would hate to see the Jazz repeat the situation before and make Hornacek the head coach the next day, other than under the interim label.

You do realize that Howard intentionally got SVG fired from Orlando? Why would he want to sign for a team that hired the coach he got fired?

.....after the fiasco in LA.....Howard would probably love to come back and play for Stan! Only Stan can turn a clown into a MVP candidate! I know the past he's had with VanGundy.....but compared to the pathetic year he's had with Kobe and the Lakers, he'd be open to coming back to a coach he knows and knows him! Actually, it would never happen.....but heck, made for some good dialogue didn't it?

I do wonder how many of these endorsements are genuine though. If I was put on the spot and asked if PKM was a great poster....I'd probably say he's the best ever. Would I really mean it though?
Will what I say get back to PKM? And if I did give him my endorsement would he give me some of that 48-power rep?

Brian Shaw or any other Coach is not a viable candidate till Ty is fired or rumors he's hanging on by a thread. The front office has not put out there that a change is coming thread closed.

Not that I don't want his *** thrown to the curb, but not sure why we are talking about a replacement when the Millers and KOC seem to have a man crushon coach Ty.

One thing that I think might be important in regards to Hornacek is that I don't know that Larry was a great basketball mind, but he knew people. Him saying that Hornacek would likely be the guy he would roll with after Sloan (since he figured Phil would leave with Sloan or would soon thereafter and Stockton's retirement is all but absolute) says a lot I think.

I can't shake the feeling that hayward, burks, enes, and derrick would ALL thrive in the Triangle offense.

It would be a bad move to give Hornacek the job without conducting a wide search. I'd be in favor of the Jazz making Hornacek the head coach if they think he's right person after a thorough search.

That's what bugged me about the Corbin hiring. I didn't mind them choosing him, but they should've at least allowed some time for others to throw in their hat. To me, it just seemed impulsive. They said they'd been auditioning him for years. It's too bad the change happened during the season. I have to wonder if they would've done the same thing if the change was during the offseason?

Brian Shaw, to me, seems like a smart guy. I'm just not sure he's tough enough or intense enough to get the most out of his players.

Corbin is that same way. His voice, to me, would rub me the wrong way. Plus, he's constantly yelling stuff on the sidelines. It seems like a bit too much micromanaging. I think that wears on players over time.

Sloan talked a lot, but it was more directed at the refs. :) lol

PKM's rep power has grown so big that now people are begging for him to rep them. PKM could single handedly change someone's rep power in just a few days.
