What's new

Burks

Sunk Cost fallacy? Did you just make that up cause that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The guy's on the books for over eleven next year so let's just put him at the end of the bench and forget about him. Ever heard about trade value?

So something you've never heard of is stupid? Econ 101. Educate yourself and read up on it. It will help you make better decisions.

Id play Donovan over Burks 100% of the time. Burks time is over with the jazz, Donovan is the new juice around here

I can't understand all the Burks hate just cuz he never plays, ok, actually I can. I just happen to believe he will shut the haters up, whether it's here or somewhere else. He's a really good player, with really bad luck.

Yeah, if you are trying to maximize Mitchell's minutes it just becomes really hard to find any time for Burks.

Hell, even if you're just playing Mitchell a solid amount, finding time for Burks is next to impossible.

Rubio-33, Exum-15
Hood-29, Exum-7, Mitchell-12
Ingles-28, JJ-10, Sefalosha-10
Favors-26, JJ-14, Jerebko-8
Gobert-32, Udoh-16

I want Exum and Mitchell both getting good burn.

That's a pretty solid minutes guesstimate. Only thing I would say is that Rubio at 33 seems high, probably closer to the 28/29 range you have Hood/Ingles in. I also see Mitchell playing at least 20.

God JFC can be so stupid sometimes.

If you buy tickets to go to a show or something in advance, let's a say a movie, then reviews come out that it's the worst **** ever. It's 3 hours long and just a god awful **** movie, and not the kind of bad that is enjoyable.

You have 2 basic options (also you can't sell the ticket because everyone knows the movie is ****ing awful. You would actually have to pay someone to take the tickets, which would be ludicrous on your part):
1. Go to the movie and have a terrible time
2. Do anything else

If you are being controlled by the sunk cost fallacy you are going to go see the movie because you already paid for it. That would be a terrible use of your time though. You'd be better off doing something else you enjoy w/ your free time.

In this example the ****ty movie is a metaphor for Alec Burks and the other options are any other wing player on the Utah Jazz.

I'm sure DL plans to play him at some point because DL knows other players will eventually have to sit games out due to rest or injury. He is also saying "all the right things" as it would be stupid to trash any player on your team or act like you have completely given up on them.

As I tried to explain earlier, the problem with this metaphor is that with the movie, it's been paid for (paid in full) and then you find out it's terrible but as per sunk cost fallacy, feel compelled to see it to justify your purchase. As I tried to illustrate earlier, Alec Burks contract is not paid in full but rather paid incrementally over the next two years. To not give him minutes, because you've decided that he's a bad movie which received bad reviews is just another sunk cost fallacy scenario which means a) we never flip the script on the negative perceptions thereby recouping some trade value; and b) we throw good money after bad on a bad contract.

This is a troll post. Right?

I give up

Plus it doesn't include Neto, O'Neale and others.

Garbage time and mostly inactive or DNP-CD's.

Minutes distribution also ignores injuries, which always happen. I also think JJ gets closer to 15, all at PF (more if Favs has knee soreness or gets rested on back-to-backs). That could open up some time for Burks.

I still have hope that Burks can recover and get back to full health. However, I also hope that he is learning to adapt his game and skill set to not be completely reliant on athleticism to blow by people.

Also, with Hayward gone, there is also extra space and motivation for him to work his way back into the roster. For now at least I'll continue to have faith that he will find a way to fit and excel in the system.

I think the most important thing for Burks is to adapt, adjust, grow whilst staying healthy

I would still like to lurk every know and then. Rather, I would like to visit a readable site. But I can tell you that, from the perspective of a lurker, Cy is ruining the site.

Ok, that's it.

Well all be back when we see Rubio average 12APG in November
