Burks

Alec could be valuable if Quin decides to run, but it's hard to see him in the rotation to start the season. He's not getting priority over Exum or Mitchell. As ****ty as it is, injuries ruined his career.

His career wouldn't be much had he not been injured. Needs some bball IQ, defensive effort, and some basketball skills. He hasn't really grown in any of the areas. At all.

It's hard to develop when you're injured 3 years in a row, especially years 23-25. Those were key years in his development, but they were taken away. Who knows what how he would have developed if he had those years back. Maybe it wouldn't have mattered, but you just don't know. It's not hard to imagine a scenario where he improved on one or two of those things had he been healthy. What we do know is that he needed that development and he never had a chance.

This could be the year that forces guys to step up and make a difference.

I could have been a contender!

God JFC can be so stupid sometimes.

If you buy tickets to go to a show or something in advance, let's a say a movie, then reviews come out that it's the worst **** ever. It's 3 hours long and just a god awful **** movie, and not the kind of bad that is enjoyable.

You have 2 basic options (also you can't sell the ticket because everyone knows the movie is ****ing awful. You would actually have to pay someone to take the tickets, which would be ludicrous on your part):
1. Go to the movie and have a terrible time
2. Do anything else

If you are being controlled by the sunk cost fallacy you are going to go see the movie because you already paid for it. That would be a terrible use of your time though. You'd be better off doing something else you enjoy w/ your free time.

In this example the ****ty movie is a metaphor for Alec Burks and the other options are any other wing player on the Utah Jazz.

I'm sure DL plans to play him at some point because DL knows other players will eventually have to sit games out due to rest or injury. He is also saying "all the right things" as it would be stupid to trash any player on your team or act like you have completely given up on them.

The problem with this analogy is that the movie is a definitive known quantity since we absolutely know the ending. We don't definitively know how Burks will end up. We have a pretty good idea but there is a chance that we could have a surprise ending. Without playing Burks we don't give any opportunity for a surprise ending.

Alec at 100% will be huge for this year's squad. Rough couple of years but if he comes back strong, look out. Crazy how quickly some of our most talented players get written off. Injuries happen but he's young and oozing with talent. Hoping for the best for his sake and ours.

What talent does Burks have? The ability to fall down after missing layups?

This really doesn't deserve a reply but okay. He's explosive, great in transition, great at getting to the rim and good at getting to the line. Unfortunately, injuries come with the territory. In a faster, more uptempo style offense, Alec would be an absolute monster.

He's also a pretty good defender and has greatly improved his 3 point shot over the years. So yeah, Alec Burks can play. He puts his body on the line for the game. That kind of stuff used to be appreciated.

Quickly you say? It's been almost 3 years of injuries and underwhelming play. It's common for fans to hype a player one day and bash him the next. For Burks it has been the opposite. we've waited for his potential and an injury-free season for years and he only disappoints. And some are still waiting...

Don't get me wrong, I want him to do well...so we can trade him :D. I don't think he is a good fit with this team anymore

He was a terrible finisher at the rim and has been his entire career, even before the injuries. He attempts highly difficult layups as his main shot. IDK even care about his shooting, he is only mediocre at what his supposed strength is.

The reason I don't appreciate his style is because he does what he wants to do rather than what's best for the team.

He's a good spot up three point shooter, but instead he would rather dribble it in take a tough layup and fall down making it 4-on-5 for the defense. On this team defense has to be their first priority.
