Nah. Low expectations this season, can still be proud of a 2OT loss. We're soft, but we can score.

I struggle rooting for BYU in basketball as much as football, probably because of a deep and abiding love I developed for Pitt as a child.

Of course SDSU shoots way above their grade that game. I think BYU handled their defense well though, which is a good sign. Didn't turn the ball over too much. Just played solid. And I was impressed that they didn't fade away. Started the game in about a 10 point hole(maybe they shouldn't start Worthington?). Then they came back....San Diego would pull away a bit....BYU would come back....pull a way again. And on and on and on the whole game. I think BYU proved last year that as long as you play these games and hang in them....win a few......get that RPI looking good.....along with taking care of business in your conference.....you can still have a great shot at the tourney even if you don't win most or just play breakeven ball in most difficult matchups during the year. The loss might be more felt in the fact that they could've played Pitt and Zona if they won....now they get Chaminade and maybe a decent team.

Not to be a downer. But I only see one of two ways into the tourney for BYU.

1) WIN at least 33 games and play Zags in close losses.
2) win at least 30 games and beat the Zags at least once.

Otherwise, the schedule is just too bad to warrant any reward whatsoever.

The WCC might have 6 solid teams this year. Probably 4 or 5 top 100 RPI. Weber State nearly always makes a run at their conference championship. Eastern Kentucky was in the tourney last year. Utah and Stanford are both good. UMASS is good. And nearly all those ooc games are at home.

They pulled a 33 RPI with a similar schedule last year and got in at 23-12 or 23-11 or something.

I'm not being an elitist when In say that schedule is a joke. Eastern KY? (that's exh. material) Utah and Stanford (and UMAss to a degree) are good, but not like good losses.. only good wins.

Let's take team names out of it. What strength of schedule ranking # would a schedule have to be to be considered a joke to you? BYU's was #25 last year. I don't think it will be wildly different this year. I'll give a 25-50 range. If that's correct.....why would that be a joke?

Where are all the BYU fans?

Haha.. I guess.

Watched the whole game, was a good game. I enjoyed it.

BYU missed a few chances to pull it out... had the token super bad call/nocall at a critical moment so the fans can blame the loss on the refs.

BYU played better D than I though they would, and kept after it. Haws can hit shots with a sliver of an opening. I loved seeing Collinsworth take it right at his defender straight to the rim. Too many bricked wide open looks.. but that's the story of every game in the history of the world.

Our bigs scrap.. but are too soft. The definite weak area of our team unless Kaufusi starts to ball. He's got potential.

Bottom line, good game, I enjoyed it. bummed they lost

To me, it sounds like a joke because there's no way with those cream puffs, it's the 25th toughest schedule in the country. Every Big 12, Big 10, and ACC team clearly has a tougher one. So do many Big East, SEC, and PAC 12 teams.

Basically.

I was going to give a lengthier reply, but it's not much needed. RPI is pretty flawed. I can look at the schedule and see not top 40.
