Collier Starting Over Keyonte: Are We Happy?

Nothing about Sexton has changed...

He’s higher in than priority than Key, which is a first. Might be more of an indictment of Key than a change with Sexton….but prior to this moment Hardy has been more than willing to bench Sexton and to prioritize Key. I think it’s meaningful for that Key got benched before Sexton this time.

I'm excited about Collier. The game doesn't look too fast for him and he's not getting physically bullied, as a 20 year old. A lot of players have learned how to be adequate shooters after reaching the NBA. Hopefully he can do that. I like everything else he brings.

Collier reminds me a bit of Eric Snow, he'd do well to have Eric Snow's career. Keyonte reminds me of Rodney Hood...

It's your issue if you choose to project this on their future. I did not make an indication on their future, only their current play.
Collier has played in the league for less than three months. And you trash him already. The kid’s been one of the top playmakers in the league since he started getting more minutes. And you trash him. Three, four, five years from now? Who knows. But give me a break.

Like I said, that is your projection. I'm not trashing him, I'm describing the level of play that these two players have performed at this season. If you choose to make that a condemnation on their future, that is on you. Don't get mad at me for making an indication on their future when only you have done that. This is your personal problem.

Hardy came out and said clearly the benching is because of Keyonte's defense, specifically "effort". Although he of course played the most backcourt minutes in last night's game, so...

Keyonte isn't, hasn't been and won't be a PG.

I actually believe he can be a pretty high-level scorer in the NBA. But that's of course a position / skill that is most abundant. He has to be an above average defender to stick.

At some point Sensabaugh understood the assignment. Last season when he came up from the G-league, he stated confidently that there really isn't anything in his game he needs to improve and all he needs is to be given minutes. And now Bryce gets it. By no means is he all the way there, but he understands what it will take for him to be a NBA player.

Whether Keyonte gets it and when it happens, remains to be seen.

What makes you think I’m projecting his development? I’m not projecting anything. You’re putting words into my mouth. I just disagree with your trashing of Collier.

Since getting bigger minutes Collier is consistently getting 8-10 assists. If he’s doing that in his rookie season what’s he going to do in year 3-4? I don’t see him as a pg that needs to be even a decent shooter. He can get into the paint when he wants creating open looks for others. He’s potentially a good to great starter if he continues on this path, and I doubt the game has slowed down for him as of yet. He just needs to cut down turnovers and get better at the ft line. IMO.

Not saying he’s going to be great but he has the tools.

Because unlike you, I have said nothing about their future or their position as prospects in the big picture. I made a statement about their current level of play and you chose to make is something bigger. Young players shouldn't be expected to be fully developed, you know that. And this is why making a comment about their level play isn't a thrashing. It's the reality of the situation and if you take offense to that, you're the one who is overlooking the obvious caveats. Like I said, if you consider this to be trashing it's a personal problem.

with the jazz tanking, i'd rather they both start, but if it's one or the other, it has to be Collier. Collier has to start - i was pretty pissed when he didn't start against OKC - no excuse for that imo as he'd clearly been getting exponentially better in a starting role.

but if it were up to me, I'd start Key alongside him, give him the green light and revisit his role for next season depending on how he plays. it's a luxury the jazz have that they don't care if they win - even that they are better off losing. they can give a guy like Keyonte the green light and play guys like Collier and Key a crap ton of minutes. play them, let them cook and see what you have.

Lmao. You get so defensive at the drop of a pin; and it’s as hilarious as it is pitiful.

I’m glad I’m unintentionally logged out sometimes, so that my hide filter is off and so I see this in full effect.

You need to understand something. That dude is running his model with his logic, and he thinks it’s the best one. Further, he thinks that if you don’t agree to the parameters of the discussion he is having with his model, or if you don’t accurately deduce the limits of the discussion, then you have a problem.

I’d say it’s autistic AF, but I don’t want to drag any autistic people.

Do you need attention or something? Didn't know you were still obsessed with me.

Ok now you’re trying to get off the hook and jump out of the boat.

Not at all, I'll say it again. They have been two of the worst players in the league that get the minutes that they do. The reason I brought that up is to say that neither has really taken the position based on their level of play, and in that case I'm happy with Hardy giving the edge to the guy who is playing harder.

If you disagree that their play hasn't been what I said it was, we can talk about it. You haven't once disagreed with me on their actually level of play, just that's it's normal for a young player. So if it's normal, it can't be a thrashing can it? You chose to take it as a thrashing, which is not my problem.
