yea most players start lifting early in high school. i'd assume with five or six years of strenght training most would be able to do atleast one rep but agree its not a real important test.
I think the combine would be funner if they had the combine numbers on some lighted board and they had some type of elimination like survivor or some other cheesy reality show. The losers would have to go to the Clippers![]()
just wondering, do they do 185 or 225?
Do they ever test how well a player can yell or moan? If so I'll bet Boozer killed it on that one.Carlos Boozer's "push in the back" rebounding technique would disagree with you.
Hands are more important for big men because it helps them catch and control the ball. For guards it doesn't really matter that much. It is supposedly a detriment to Rondo's shooting.
Small gloves?Small hands can only mean one thing.

for all the people thinking williams cant be a 3 because of his lateral agility, size, etc.
consider this comparison to our own gordon hayward, who we have all admitted is quick enough to guard the 3, and even the 2.
no step vert
dw-29
gh -30.5
max vert
dw - 34.5
gh - 34.5
lane agility
dw - 11.03
gh - 11.73
full court sprint
dw - 3.23
gh - 3.22
he managed a faster lane agility score, and comparable sprint, and jumping abilities than the 35 pound smaller hayward, and with much more length, i think he could definitely be an adequate defender at the 3.
i think a major question of his ability to play the 3 is of his ability to create for himself and others in iso situations, and being able to create off the dribble.
Derrick Williams is in the 96th percentile in terms of points per possessions in isolation situations, scoring about 1.130 per possession.
Williams is in the 92nd percentile in terms of PPP in post-up situations, scoring 1.065 points per possession on 50% shooting
i am inclined to say he could be a successful 3 in this league, with the ability to post up many of the 3's which would be matching up against him, and having the range to keep them honest.

If he can trim down just a tad I think that would go a long way. But I do think he can excel at the 3. Honestly I see a lot of Melo in him the way he gets the ball on the wing, jabsteps, then blows by his defender. Not sure he's a perfect fit at 3, but I don't see big problems in store for him going forward.
This next month is going to get interesting. It seems like the more people see and hear about someone, the more their going to sour on them because they tend to start to notice what someone can't do, as opposed to remembering what they can do. I've already started doing it with Knight.
You are thinking of the shoe size correlation.
I wear a size 14 in case you are wondering.![]()
