What's new

Dennis Lindsey: We will be VERY active in free agency

You were aware that Lyles shoots a better three point percentage than Ryan Anderson, right? As a rookie. In 8 years Anderson has only shot better than 40% once. I suspect Lyles is going to make you forget Anderson ever existed. . .

That would be crazy if he was so good that he made me actually lose parts of my memory. I've seen some pretty good players play, like I saw Lebron James play in the Finals, but I still remembered who Ryan Anderson was.

I swear though, this place is infatuated with that guy for some reason. Ten years from now some guy is going to start a thread asking if we could trade for Ryan Anderson 4 years after he is out of the league.

He is a great shooter. He might have only averaged over 40% once, but he has come damn close a lot of years on a high volume of attempts. I would be surprised if Lyles ever becomes as dangerous from 3 as Anderson. He might end up having better %'s, but it will be from more conservative shot selection.

I still think if we add Deron and Gasol to this team it would be ultimate sweetness. Give Exum a year to develop under the wing of two solid point guards.

Imagine getting your throat stomped out to the point that your coughing up blood by the big, almighty lineup of Deron Williams, Rodney Hood, Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert... And then hells gates are unleashed as the ravishing secondary lineup of George Hill, Alec Burks, Joe Johnson, Trey Lyles and Pau Gasol as they come in to rip your heart out.

Joe Johnson and DW hated each other in Brooklyn. SO no thanks, However, if Gasol was on our team and was willing to come off the bench, just wow! Ok reality check not going to happen.

For those who don't like the deal, then tell me which deal that was made would you swap for this deal. Would you want Deng 4 years 80 million, or Solomon 4 yrs 48+million or Dudley 3yrs 30million or Turner 4 yrs $75 million...

For his production, experience and skill this is a great deal overall in today's FA market. DL hit a home run with this deal considering all the factors. DL is managing the financial roster like a great GM should do.

Assuming all the reports of the Jazz unwillingness to give an offer beyond two years are true, is there anyone else possibly that they might have a chance with as a FA signing as a big?

There's no huge need, I suppose, to get a FA 5 (considering possible contract extensions, and some think Withey fills the role decently -- I'm a bit lower on him myself than some). But considering that Jazz can, if I'm not mistaken, still easily enough pursue an up-to $19M/per year FA (or trade), is there anyone that the Jazz might tempt on a 2-year contract (who probably needs to accept a reserve role) who could move the needle? Or is it just not worth it in this market?

Joe Johnson will play the big position in stretch lineups. With Withey and Pleiß on the roster, I'd be surprised if they added another PF/C now that we have all 15 roster slots set. They'll have to trade/buyout/release someone first in order to sign another one.

Yeah, I probably don't expect to sign anyone, but I wouldn't hate it given the right situation. We're going to be trading/buying out/releasing at some point in any event, I presume.

Of course the pipe dream is Gasol, but would someone like Aldrich or Speights be interesting enough to take a flyer on?

Like Withey better than Aldrich.
Someone else would offer Speights more than we would do for experimental 5 min stints together with Favors to stretch the floor.

Joe Johnson was a pretty sensible signing in this market. Hopefully he's still motivated. He kind of mailed it in in Brooklyn, but it's tough to blame him.

I'd rather have him at his number than deng, hill, etc. at their current contracts.

I wouldn't mind Bogut. I think he'd play enough minutes and bring enough to the table to be helpful. Also wouldn't mind Hawes, but he'd be more limited in what he can add. I think Withey would be fine, really, but he saw a lot less action than I would have thought.

Based on what Mozgov got I think Aldrich will cost a bajillion dollars... Just roll with withey. If leuer is inexpensive then get him.

They won't bring Booker back, he just don't fit. And pretty sure you said they'd trade the Lyles pick too.
Can't get them all right. Nope, I didn't guarantee a trade of the Lyles pick, but I thought they'd look to trade it in a package deal with Burke for a vet. There's still a chance Booker is brought back. Jazz still need another big. Depth is an issue, especially since Favors and Gobert both had injury problems last season. Bigs are extremely expensive as we've seen already. TBH, I don't want to help the W's, but Bogut would be a nice fit.

I am very happy so far. Hill and Johnson.

And DL isnt done yet. There may be a shooting 5 signed and dead weight (Burke) to jettison.

Hill/Exum/Neto(Mack)
Hood/Burks/Johnson
Hayward/Johnson/Ingles
Favors/Lyles/Bolomboy
Gobert/Pleiss

Jazz have 6 bigs on tap as is. They will go for a shooting 5 or roll as is IMO.

Leuer is interesting but redundant to Lyles IMO. Idk if I'd be willing to give Lyles minutes away to someone with a lower ceiling who does the same things as Lyles does.

Yeah, I'd go to Miami.

#1 priority would be getting out of the West.
I've been to Miami.
I would go there too.
Miami is awesome
