Dennis Lindsey: We will be VERY active in free agency

Any interest in Jeff Green. His rights got renounced today I think. He can play the 3 or 4 and can shoot okay.

I've come full circle and think I'd rather pay Dudley than what I think Deng and Hill will want. If George Hill won't renegotiate just give Dudley a two year $30 deal with second year 1-2M guaranteed. Not sure that'd get it done, but I don't think Deng will come off the bench and I don't think he's a good enough shooter to play a ton on the wing for us.

I'm switching back and forth between Twitter and Yahoos Vertical NBA podcast looking for Jazz news. So far nothing.

I hope you guys realize we HAVE to hit the salary floor of 84.6 Million. We have 56.5 Million in guaranteed contracts. There is absolutely no reason - barring signing an extension with Faves or Hill - to not go spending 20 Million on a one year deal with a guy that has potential to bring our bench to the next level.

Trevor Booker has a salary range of around 10 million on the open market with multiple teams interested according to Tony Jones at the SL Tribune.

No we don't. Do you know what happens if we're below the floor? Absolutely nothing, other than the players on the team getting a nice bonus. Also, the floor could be reached with a deal at the trade deadline.
Favors will be extended. And DL will dole out some training camp dollars like he did last year. Expect one FA signing too. I'd put my money on Lindsey not liking any of the FA's at inflated salaries and offering Booker a 1 yr/$10m contract.

Didn't realize that. Still, second half of my statement remains. There is absolutely no reason -barring a Faves or Hill extension -to not give a guy who'd be an extremely good backup 20 million on a one year deal.

$20m for a backup? You're crazy. What would that accomplish? Building a team takes commitment. If Utah was one player short of a championship, sure. But why give valuable PT to a guy who would be around for a year, taking minutes away from our core group. At least with Hill, the Jazz might be able to convince him to stay. And he's on a decent contract.

As long as it's a one year deal, giving someone like Kent Bazemore 20 Million really doesn't hurt us. No hurt, only help is awesome.

I'm talking myself into Dudley. It's likely going to take a few days before anything is agreed on. It's a sellers market and agents are going to try to have teams bid up prices. There's no hurry; plenty of $ flooding the market place.

Tony Jones from the Trib just retweeted this:

.@WojVerticalNBA: Jazz targeting Luol Deng in free agency.

I can't tell if this is an old tweet or not..

On the Vertical Free Agency show he specifically said that Utah inquired about him once free agency started.

Aaaaaand Timofey Mozgov signs for 4 years at $65 million. Good job Lakers! Sure the hell am glad we have Gobert and Favors!

Holy ****! Changed my mind. Jazz should just use their cap space to take on other team's salary dumps and assets. This money being tossed around is stupid. Durant, DeRozan, Gasol or Batum. They're the only ones I think will be worth their contract. If you strike out on those four, let al the big money die down and then look for bargains. An not bargains on the new cap - bargains last year or two years ago. Then make a salary cap trade dump for veterans to fill the bench. Then extend Davors and push to extend Hill.

Don't throw stupid money at mediocre players. That's a recipe for disaster.

Are you insinuating that Mozgov is mediocre? He is at least the 10th best player on a championship team. Pay the man!

And that extension for Favors starting at 18 million and descending from there? Yeah, that ain't happening. . .

On another note, that trade for Hill looks absolutely genius now, because, at these prices, we will only be signing one free agent at most.
