It happened, butI can't believe this thread has gone on so long.
I am 99%* sure I read an interview earlier this year where Deron was asked if he would ever come back to Utah. He said no.
Every single last bridge has been burned. Deron is not coming back. Get over it.
(*Sometimes my memory isn't accurate, I don't have time to look for the interview right now, does anyone else remember it?)
It happened, but
A) Everything is subject to change.
B) Deron would get crucified if he was talking about teams he wanted to sign with when he was a free agent. For the record, he hasn't said he would like to sign with anybody. You cannot take stuff told to the press at face value.
Good point. But I still think those bridges can't be repaired.
Why would we pay max money for Deron? And why would Deron take a pay cut to come back here?
Folks have gotta understand, Kanter, Favors, Hayward, Burks, etc aren't going to be on rookie contracts forever. If you don't think that big markets/rich owners like New York, SA, LA, Miami, Portland, Dallas, etc won't be interested in Hayward or Favors, then you're not thinking.
And the "other guys" like Millsap, Jefferson, Harris, etc will all be wanting more money too. And believe it or not, someone might actually be willing to pay Millsap more than the garbage that he's currently on. If Boozer is getting 80+ million, why shouldn't Millsap? True, Chicago was retarded and that was done under a different CBA... But Millsap is going to get a raise... REGARDLESS! And he deserves it! Millsap is far better in every way possible than Boozer. I think some of you are going to be surprised how many teams are really going to go after Millsap and Jefferson. Bigs that can score are at a premium in this league!
We aren't the Mavs or Yankees here folks! This isn't Monopoly, where you play with fake money. I swear some of you have never heard of the concept of SALARY CAP and FRANCHISE FINANCIAL VIABILITY... We can't give max money out to 12 players here.
The only way it could happen is if Dwill gave us a promise he would sign with us. Then KOC would have to work to clear cap space, but I just don't either side really reaching out and aggressively trying to get a deal done.
I think the bridge would be repaired when he signs that contract and the lame Jazz fans realize he is going to make Kanter and Favors great.

hoopshype is reporting that DW is leaning towards signing with the Nets.

Misleading headline. Billy King says he 'feels good' about Deron resigning. That's it.
