What's new

Deron is coming back to Utah.

You heard it first. If the Jazz sign Deron, they're going to want to keep Devin Harris around for some reason.

I can't believe this thread has gone on so long.

I am 99%* sure I read an interview earlier this year where Deron was asked if he would ever come back to Utah. He said no.

Every single last bridge has been burned. Deron is not coming back. Get over it.

(*Sometimes my memory isn't accurate, I don't have time to look for the interview right now, does anyone else remember it?)

Dammm this thread is still going?

While it would make sense from a basketball stand point for Deron to join this team, it doesnt from a pride stand point. He wont come back to a team that bailed on him. He should, but he wont. Plus no way Kevin would resign him. Plus like what Thriller is saying. It would hamper our ability to sign our young guys.

I would want Deron to come back, but he would have to except like 10 million a year. Not happening. No matter what
anyone says (including Deron) money is way more important than winning.

It happened, but

A) Everything is subject to change.
B) Deron would get crucified if he was talking about teams he wanted to sign with when he was a free agent. For the record, he hasn't said he would like to sign with anybody. You cannot take stuff told to the press at face value.

Good point. But I still think those bridges can't be repaired.

Probably not. But I don't think there's enough viable information (or much at all) available to us to say whether he would or wouldn't.

I think the bridge would be repaired when he signs that contract and the lame Jazz fans realize he is going to make Kanter and Favors great.

Why would we pay max money for Deron? And why would Deron take a pay cut to come back here?

Folks have gotta understand, Kanter, Favors, Hayward, Burks, etc aren't going to be on rookie contracts forever. If you don't think that big markets/rich owners like New York, SA, LA, Miami, Portland, Dallas, etc won't be interested in Hayward or Favors, then you're not thinking.

And the "other guys" like Millsap, Jefferson, Harris, etc will all be wanting more money too. And believe it or not, someone might actually be willing to pay Millsap more than the garbage that he's currently on. If Boozer is getting 80+ million, why shouldn't Millsap? True, Chicago was retarded and that was done under a different CBA... But Millsap is going to get a raise... REGARDLESS! And he deserves it! Millsap is far better in every way possible than Boozer. I think some of you are going to be surprised how many teams are really going to go after Millsap and Jefferson. Bigs that can score are at a premium in this league!

We aren't the Mavs or Yankees here folks! This isn't Monopoly, where you play with fake money. I swear some of you have never heard of the concept of SALARY CAP and FRANCHISE FINANCIAL VIABILITY... We can't give max money out to 12 players here.

Seriously? You pay Deron because he is a max player. Who knows what Favors, Kanter, Hayward, Millsap, Jefferson, etc will turn into. You know what Deron is. Deron is a safer bet than any of those guys. Favors shows potential, but is a long ways from the max. Kanter is full of talent right now, but utterly hopeless. Hayward looks like a Harpring like player. Burks, like Kanter, has glimpses, but overall is hopeless, and closer to CJ than Wade at this point. Jefferson helps this team if he leaves. Millsap is underpaid, but he better be gone on his next contract, because you don't want to be the team to overpay an aging, small, role player with tons of heart. We tried that with Harp, and it didn't work out.

You are going to let the one single person that you have a glimmer of signing through FA walk, because you hope someone else will pan out? That is is just dumb. If you are the Jazz, you have to go after Deron harder than anyone else before, because he is a max player, and you have a slim chance to get him. Signing someone like Deron out from underneath LA, Dallas, NJ, etc would be a huge step in changing the perception of Utah around the league.

I would feel better paying Dwill max money than PG's like Westbrook and Rose. He at least makes his big men better, which is the strength of our team. Hayward and Burks might have to take smaller roles, but if this team is going to be dominant it's going to come in the form of Favors and Kanter owning down low.

The only way it could happen is if Dwill gave us a promise he would sign with us. Then KOC would have to work to clear cap space, but I just don't either side really reaching out and aggressively trying to get a deal done.

Torbin is right here also. No way the talks would even happen. Too much pride involved. Neither side will even consider bringing it up. Its out of the question.

Deron would have to have some sort of epiphany and change of heart before he would consider Utah. Dont forget how badly he was booed when he came back. Im sure he was hurt by that.

Thanks a lot for ruining any chance we had booing fans.

hoopshype is reporting that DW is leaning towards signing with the Nets.

Something seriously afoul is afoot if he is. As in, he has received some kind of confirmation/promise/something from Dwight that he for some reason trusts.

Misleading headline. Billy King says he 'feels good' about Deron resigning. That's it.

That means about nothing. I feel good about the Jazz beating the Spurs. When I say I feel good, I mean that I hope that they beat the Spurs. It is about the same thing the King is saying.

I think there is a good chance he signs with Nets. I think Deron is more loyal than people give him credit for. I still think he would have resigned with us.

Where does Deron even got to go anyways. There arent really any attractive situations out there for him. Why go to Dallas and try to hitch yourself to Dirk'S career when its already almost over. Unless that guy can keep it up until he is 40. Although he might be able to. Dirk doesnt really rely on athleticism anyways. His other option is hooking up with Howard somehow, but Howard kind of screwed that all up.

I also heard that the Nets will have new black and white uni's. As miniscule as that is, it could weigh on his decision. Combine that with the new stadium, a supposedly committed owner, no where else to go , and a lot of money. You might just get Deron saying screw it, I guess Ill stay. Also add that to the fact that there is a lot of pressure to go back to Nets. He knows what they gave up for him, and how bad they will be screwed if he leaves.

Why go to Dallas? You mean besides the fact that it's his home town? Besides the fact that they won a championship, but are now short one key player. Besides the spectacular arena and the owner that loves the game? Besides the fact that Jason Kidd, one of the best point guards of all time, said he'd be happy to "back up Williams?"

You're right...no reason to sign there at all! :P
