Devin Harris To Portland This Summer?

That makes it easy.

It does, but to be a little clearer, there really isn't anything else that the Jazz should want (a bunch of players in or past their prime, scrubs, or busted).

Except for picks I guess.

Only if the Jazz get back Batum or Matthews.

I agree but the problem I see with getting Matthews back is that neither he nor Hayward are very suited to defend NBA 3's. Maybe some NBA 3's but not legit ones like Carmello, Lebron, Pierce, Durant, etc. So either we start Hayward at the 3 and watch him get eaten alive or watch him or Matthews come off the bench which hardly makes sense as we move forward in my opinion. Though, Hayward as the 6th/7th man, getting 28 minutes a night wouldn't be so bad. If we got Knight and Singleton, I'd like our core moving forward after this year, minus AK, minus Okur, and minus Miles, three guys who simply don't have what it takes for various reasons. Maybe we could re-sign Miles but only if it was on the very cheap at about 2M per.

Knight-Watson
Matthews-Hayward
Singleton-Evans
Jefferson-Millsap
Favors

That's a pretty hard-working, scrappy team, especially if Fat Al shows up in better shape in a few months.

I'm going to shoot myself. If we can somehow get Matthews (which I think is very improbable) then we get him. He and Hayward are the starters, Hayward is the SF.

I actually think that Hayward is more effective guarding 3s than 2s. He is a tough kid and he has the length. Getting Matthews back would be awesome, as he has become a very good spot up shooter while Hayward can drive in and create. We can throw in Bell in the deal too.

The Blazers aren't giving up Wes or Batum for Harris. Wes has obviously gotten quite popular in Portland and with the uncertainty over Roy, they won't be giving him up for Harris. They seem to really like young Batum too. Even back in the trade deadline, Portland was only rumored to be offering Andre Miller for Harris. Maybe they'd be willing to throw in Fernandez but that'd probably be as far as they'd go.

Portland fans are talking about a Utah trade as well. I think this trade makes the most sense

Portland gets Devin Harris, Paul Millsap, Raja Bell

Utah gets Andre Miller, Nicolas Batum, Marcus Camby, #21

It works in the trade checker and Im sure Portland still really wants Millsap. Here is our new lineup:

Im assuming if this trade happened the Jazz would draft Knight and then maybe Singleton....and who know with the #21 maybe Jimmer?

Miller/Knight
Hayward/CJ
Batum/Singleton
Jefferson/Favors
Camby/Okur

I'm sure they would thrown in Rudy or Babbit. I think Batum could be had if we added something else.

That looks like a pretty solid trade. I don't know how I feel about losing Millsap though. Still my favorite Jazz player.

Harris and a filler for Miller and Wes/Batum would be a great deal. I would do it in a heartbeat.

Would camby come? He was threatening retirement for any trade at the deadline.
$8.5 million is $8.5 million. Unless he is forced to tithe in Utah? (Assuming his salary is the same as last year.)

Edit: Holy ****. Camby is 37?!?!?! I'm getting old...

No way in hell Portland lets go of Mathews, he was their insurance policy on Brandon Roy and now its paying off.

I never wanted Wes to leave. I find it funny that now so many are wanting him back.;)

I didn't want him to leave ether. But now that his front loaded first year is done and gone on that contract the rest is pretty reasonable. The contract was the sticking point for the Jazz. Not the player.

Honestly, I thought Matthews was overrated (relative to the contract he was given) but he has surprised me with how well he did in Portland and how well the team did. I would love to have him back, but it isn't going to happen.
